Vehicle description
Special editions of fancy cars aren"t always our cup of tea, but in the case of the new Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition, you won"t find us complaining. Two reasons: first, the XKR is a great car in any garb, and second, because Jaguar happily exercised a modicum of restraint in making this the pick of the litter. So what makes this limited-edition super-cat so particularly well bred? Besides the usual exterior bits, such as its blue-black metallic paint (called "Celestial Black" and exclusive to the Portfolio), Jaguar took advantage of all that space under its 20-inch "Cremona" wheels to install Jaguar"s biggest-ever brake discs: 15.8 inches in front, 13.8 in back, each etched with crescent-shapes grooves for improved ventilation and clamped by bright red calipers. Expect those huge saucers to find their way into other hi-po Jags in the future. Of course, no special edition would be complete without swank interior mix-ins, and this is no exception. Besides making pretty much everything on the XKR option list standard—including the softest of Jaguar"s leather upholstery and the upgraded 525-watt surround-sound audio system—the XKR Portfolio adds a set of gorgeous Bowers and Wilkins aluminum-domed speakers to make the sound system as much a treat for the eyes as it is for the ears. (reference: Car and Driver 12/2008) This car satisfied my dream to own a convertible sports car on the weekends during nice weather only. It never was even driven in the rain! It is rare, being only one of 255 portfolio editions made in 2008. And because of the hard work to save up to be able to afford such a vehicle it was kept in amazing condition to keep it nice for a lifetime. However, the time has come that I am ready for a change. My 2 boys are getting older which means I am mainly driving the family minivan on the weekends to soccer and basketball tournaments. And my boys don’t fit in the backseat anymore. 😊 This car gives one the chance to own something that is comparable to cars priced 2 to 3 times as much with head turning looks. It still grabs a lot of attention. This vehicle was stickered priced over $100k. I grew up loving the American muscle cars of the 70s. Having purchased a Jaguar was something that never crossed my mind. However, a friend had turned me on to this one that was available and after seeing it up close and driving it the decision to purchase was an easy one.It has a nice blend between performance and luxury feel. I am the second owner of this original California car that was turned in with only 4.5k miles. The original owner had complained the car pulled to the left. The dealer inspected the car with discovering no issues. I have owned the vehicle since December of 2008 with no issues. All details are within the carfax. And I have all services records. It was only ever serviced at the Jaguar dealership were I purchased it. It has been a great car for me and it will be tough to see it go! There is NOT one thing wrong with this car. It is truly ready to drive off and enjoy….
