Vehicle description

2002 Ford Explorer XLT. 172,000 miles. Automatic transmission. Car is in center city Philadelphia.
The good: –NEW alternator –NEW battery –drives well –powerful engine –big and roomy –cheap –4-wheel drive –never been in an accident –title is clear as can be –regular oil changes performed over last 4 years. can"t say what was going on before then –it might even have a full tank of gas
The bad: –Starting to rust around fenders (see photos), perhaps other areas –Currently won"t start. I think it has something to do with the anti-theft system. Can"t currently locate remote entry fob, which might fix problem. Can"t guarantee that i"ll be able to locate it. It might be something else though. I don"t know.
Pickup details: –Car is currently located on a city street. –Buyer responsible for towing/removal of vehicle. If car is blocked in by other cars (i.e. other cars park around it), tow truck driver might have to get creative to get it out of the spot, since it won"t currently start (nor will it shift into neutral). –If we have trouble removing vehicle from current parking spot or it must be towed to another location and stored, buyer is responsible for 100% of these fees. –Registration on the vehicle expires April 30. I believe it can stay in its parking spot beyond that date. But it might become more of a hassle to transfer ownership etc. after April 30. (Of course, you"re welcome to purchase registration on the vehicle upon the close of the auction. Just being transparent about the situation we"re in here.)
Price: I"m starting bidding @ $149, which is less than I"ll get for it at the junkyard. Which is where this thing is going if it doesn"t sell here. SAVE THIS CAR FROM THE JUNKYARD. Or don"t, I don"t really care.
Kelley Bluebook says this car is worth $1,420 in "fair" condition. $1,677 is the price for "good." I think this car is somewhere in between fair and good, so if you end up getting it for $1,500 that"s a good deal.
