The ’02 model year introduced the Acura NSX in its final form, re-styled and improved both cosmetically and mechanically in numerous ways over earlier cars. All ’02-’05 NSX were fitted with a targa roof, fixed headlights, new bumpers and side skirts that resulted in a significant aerodynamic advantage, revised suspension tuning, new interior details, and more.
This NSX has 6-owners from new according to Carfax, each of whom took great care of the car. The original owner purchased this car on a 3-year Acura lease in Virginia in June 2002. After that, the car was imported into Ontario, Canada, where it remained until the current owner purchased it in late 2016 and brought it home to California. After almost 3 years of ownership, the current owner is ready to send this NSX to its next caring owner to make room for incoming cars.
This car is in great condition for the mileage and compared to many NSX we have inspected. I have sourced, owned, driven, and sold countless NSXs and can confidently say this is a great example for anyone who wants to regularly drive and enjoy their NSX. NSXs without an abundance of modifications or paintwork simply do not come along often.
This NSX is all-original and unmodified apart from H&R wheel spacers, front-end OEM NSX-R chassis stiffener bars (which give the targa chassis a much more solid feel), and parking sensors integrated into the bumpers front & rear.
Upon driving this NSX, we found that the car feels like an example with far lesser miles. The transmission shifts perfectly, and the engine is smooth and strong. The suspension feels as originally intended, and the chassis feels totally fresh. The car has no abnormal noises to note. A/C and radio both work perfectly.
Maintenance Information:
In September 2017 (around 4,750 miles ago), the following services were performed: Replaced timing belt. Replaced cam seals. Replaced crank seals. Replaced valve cover gaskets. Tires are Yokohama S-Drives in OEM sizing with 2012 date codes all around. The tires have a high level of tread remaining.
The only non-functioning item on the car is the right turn signal indicator bulb within the dash display, which needs replacement.
The clutch is currently in need of replacement, which will be done prior to sale using a Clutchmasters FX250 kit.
Prior to the current owner’s purchase, engine compression was tested @ 53,000 miles and shown to be 190 psi across all 6 cylinders.
Cosmetic Notes:
100% original paint, verified by professional paint meter.
Exterior: The original paint on the front bumper has noticeable stone chips - see close-up images. The hood has some light stone peppering as well. The windshield wipers also show some weathering. The rest of the exterior is in fantastic condition, including paint, wheels, etc. No visible scratches, dings, or dents are present.
Interior: The interior is fantastic for the mileage, with no noticeable wear on either seat bolster and a general lack of wear, scratches, or any broken items within the interior of the car.
Engine bay / front bay: All original and free of any major blemishes. The front bay contains some small extra wiring to keep the OEM lights on during the day (due to the mandate in Canada for daytime running lights).
Undercarriage: Clean and free of any surface rust or corrosion.
Carfax Notes:
The Carfax shows a mileage inconsistency in 2005 of ~17,000 miles upon the car’s arrival to Canada. This could be due to confusion in the reporting between miles & kilometers, or simply incorrect reporting altogether - we aren’t sure. A mileage inconsistency also shows in 2016 resulting from the current owner’s pre-purchase inspection in Canada, which we can confirm was due to the shop mistakenly reporting the dash readout as kilometers instead of miles.
