Vehicle description
Overall In Good Condition, Needs Some Repair
This is a used vehicle with 228K miles. It runs and drives but needs a master cylinder as well as the following repairs;
(a). 2 front shocks,
(b). 2 front auto-locking hubs (I took them for my 2003 Excursion 2 years ago), I have now owned 4 Excursions. Great Trucks!
(c). the engine needs a heli-coil on the passenger side of the engine and runs with a miss. It is either the plug or coil.
(d). the transmission is strong,
(e). a/c and heaters front and rear are all working well, as well as the controls.
(f). the body has no rot or major rust issues,
(g). the interior is fair and the front seats show ware and some tear but the rest of the interior needs a good scrubbing.
(h). the radio 6 cd changer malfunctions, it will only play one CD at a time and the radio works well.
(j). the drivers side rear door where the molding goes needs to be light sanded, primed and then the molding has to be glued back on.
In 2014 while I was away in California for the winter my son blew out a spark plug and replaced it with a heli-coil on the drivers side mid engine (reachable) but likely didn"t tighten it down all the way because it blew out again this time taking a piece of the plug thread with it. There is a larger heili-coil made for such issues, but instead he temporarily resolved any issue of a leak by gluing the heli-coil and new plug into place. It ran with no miss but after a while it stopped firing likely because he did not replace the coil that cracked when it was forcefully ejected at high pressure. You may get away with replacing just the the coil and using the vehicle like that but I would not recommend it as its best to fix it correctly.
The NY registration sticker on it is from 2014 when I took it off the road. I do not remember any other issues although some may exist. This truck was lifted 4 to 6" and springs were refortified. The chassis has rust scale that can easily be wire brushed and painted with rust converting paint.
I RETIRED THIS EXCURSION AND PURCHASED TWO LOW MILE 2004"s (V10 Eddy Bauer & 6.0L Limited Diesel) BOTH FROM OUT OF STATE DEALERS FOR A TOTAL OF 44K AND STILL OWN THEM, BUT THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE.
THE 2000 I AM SELLING NEEDS WORK AND ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION IT MAY BE WORTH THE INVESTMENT FOR YOU TO HAVE A SHARP BLACK LIFTED TRUCK WITH GOOD 285 TIRES.
