Vehicle description
This has been a great family vehicle for our family of 8 for the 7 years we have owned it. Lately there has been an electrical issue that has caused me to get my wife a reliable mini-van as I travel for my job and am not around to help her when issues occur during the week. At least I think it is electrical. The issue is that if the vehicle sits too long, the batteries drain to the point where it doesn"t have enough juice to start it (but never drain entirely even after several weeks). I can throw on my 200 Amp battery charger and after 3 or 4 minutes of charge, it fires right up. Sometimes, the batteries act like the don"t have enough juice even within 30 minutes of turning off the vehicle.
Here is what we have done to try to fix: - New Alternator - New Batteries - New Starter - New Glow Plugs - Took to Ford dealer and they didn"t know for sure but suggested I replace the EIC and the fuse box which I haven"t tried yet.
Tires are like new. 4 wheel drive works great with the manual locking hubs I put in when the auto-locking ones stopped working a few years back. I bought this from NC so the body is still in excellent shape. Class 3 hitch. Has a TV that I plug in a DVD and speakers to for trips as the VHS player died several years back.
Things that don"t work: - Passenger side front window motor (most of the time as sometimes it decides to work) - Middle seat passenger window motor - It has a cracked windshield from hitting the brakes too hard when hauling 2X4"s and the windshield leaks during heavy rains which would be fixed when a new windshield is installed. - Rips in front seats as pictured. I had seat covers on them but wanted to show the rips. - Interior is overall fair with normal stains in the carpet you would expect from a 17 year old kid hauler. - The drivers side headlight does not shine at full brightness. It is not out it just is dim unless I wiggle the connector on the back of the headlight and then it stays bright until the next big bump I hit. I have never been pulled over for it and haven"t bothered to fix it since it has minimal impact on visibility
It has the coveted 7.3 L diesel that runs great. I wouldn"t hesitate to jump in it and drive across the country - I just wouldn"t shut if off in case it didn"t start again. :) I will actually be putting 500 miles on it in the next week. It does blow black smoke when under load going uphill but I have been told that is normal when you have a performance chip installed which this does according to the previous owner. That chip helps this get great gas mileage with around 20mpg on the highway.
I have tried to disclose everything that I know about or at least remember but this vehicle is being sold as-is and I am pricing it basically for the value of the motor. If the minimum doesn"t get met, I will be taking it to an auction later this month so a non-refundable deposit will be required within 48 hours of the end of auction so I know the buyer is serious and so I don"t miss the opportunity to sell at our local auction.
