Vehicle description
1987 Toyota SR5 Turbo Pickup. . looking for a new home.
Super clean classic Toyota pickup with the super desirable 4-cyl TURBO. Mated to the bulletproof 5-speed manual transmission and two-speed transfer case for the ultimate off-road combination!
This is an all-original truck, with what is believed to be an actual 283K miles.
This truck starts and runs incredibly well. There"s evidence a power steering leak, and the A/C isn"t currently hooked up - but not sure why. We"ve always used it as is, so not really sure what it might take to bring it back to life. Clutch shifts and engages smoothly and tranny moves through the gears nicely. Synchros in first and second are demonstrating wear, but still shift in and out of gear fine. This truck also has cruise control, power windows and locks - but the window switch on the passenger door isn"t currently working (I believe that the window lock switch on the driver"s side door is locking it out). If I don"t start it over the course of a month or so, the battery will be weak and will require a jump. Not sure why - perhaps there"s a small power draw that I don"t know about. . but I move it around more than that so it"s not usually an issue at all.
Brakes seem to be working nicely and bring her to a stop without issue.
Brand new Optima Red Top battery, and tires are in great condition. Windshield shows nicely, and all other glass is in very nice condition and appears to be factory Toyota glass.
The truck was wearing stainless steel panels along the beltline of the truck when we purchased it. They were showing some age and were buckling in places, so I removed the panels. . and discovered some surface imperfections in the paint. You can see them in the photos, but there are several places where superficial rust has started and places where the paint has worn through/missing from years of coverage from the stainless steel panels. The back of the cab has several worn spots where a camper shell/topper rubbed the cab, and the cargo light is cracked and not functioning at the moment. Bed is in very nice condition with mostly superficial scuffs and rubs. Tailgate has all original hardware and opens/close just as it should. Frame of the truck looks to be rock solid and shows no signs of rust/wear/damage, and is believed to be 100% structurally sound. The paint is bright and shiny and polishes up very nice, and the truck is currently wearing vintage 4Runner SR5 vinyl decals that can easily be removed if you"d prefer. There"s a very small dent on the hood and another small ding on the roof of the cab - otherwise the body appears to be very straight.
Interior shows light wear all over, and has a small worn spot on the driver"s seat bolster. Dash is cracked under the dash pad, and the steering column cover has a crack near the cruise control lever. Tilt steering works as it should, and all gauges function accurately (including the "TURBO" light!). The factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo is still in tact and seems to be in good functioning condition. Both doors open and close soundly. Shift boot shows years of age, as is the shift knob itself.
Includes factory owner"s manual, original jack and tool kit, and a healthy stack of service receipts documenting much of the truck"s service history over the years.
This is a rare piece indeed! A very solid rock example that presents incredibly well. This thing never fails to turn heads, and always gets lots of thumbs up whenever we take her out. For the past several years she"s lived a life of leisure, only coming out on sunny days for the occasional trip into town or the parts store. Stored indoors.
She"s a very reliable ride that will remind you why you love these trucks so much! The ride is great and she tracks down the road as it should. These trucks are known for jaw-dropping reliability and longevity, and this one is a testament to their rock-solid reputation!
Feel free to call with any questions; I"m happy to chat with you in detail about the truck. I"ll tell you all I can about it. My cell is 970/778.6061
