Vehicle description
Last seeing the light of day in 2006, and being stored in a dry climate controlled warehouse, this now lovely 1985 Mercedes W123 Chassis 300CD, representing the last year of production for this model, was recently found and nicely recommissioned as you see it herein.
Intensely popular at the time of original sale, with a waiting list of well over one year, they still hold their sway in desireability to the collector, and are very hard to find that have little or no rust or mechanical issues.
After much sorting, cleaning, and comprehensively servicing inclusive of new Toyo 195/70/14 radial tires, brakes, Bosch alternator, new Mercedes exhaust pipes and muffler, wheel bearing, Interstate battery, all new oils, fuel and oil filters, antifreeze, air conditioning service etc, it starts, runs, and drives wonderfully. As with any engine of this age, there are minor leaks evidenced by years of accumulated weepage on the engine. This is very normal.
All electrical functions work as originally designed, inclusive of the cruise control, power windows, power sunroof, lights, turn signals, etc. The cigarette lighter is inoperative. The 300CD"s body and Smoke Silver Metallic paint are in very nice condition with no signs of rust with the exception of a small spot on the lower license plate bolt, and a small edge at the left front valance seam below the front bumper. Stainless trim and chrome are in excellent condition.
The Mercedes interior shows little or no wear, with nice carpets, door panels, headliner etc. Minor cracking does appear in some of the wood grain clear coat trim, but still appears very nice.
In conclusion, this is a lovely, and very original uncorrupted driver quality Mercedes Coupe that anyone would be proud to own. Known for their historic longevity, some of which operate well past the half million mile mark, they are certainly a appreciating assets, as well as very fun and economical to own and drive.
The 1985 Mercedes 300CD will be sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I strongly suggest personal inspection, or by a qualified representative of your choosing PRIOR to purchase. Inspections as a condition of sale after auction end will not be allowed.
Please be advised, I furthermore reserve the right to end the auction early, given the Mercedes is for sale locally, and on other International sales venues. Kindly do not ask what my reserve is in that is would be unfair to other bidders.
Please feel free to ask any questions, and thank you for the interest. Enjoy the pictures.
