Vehicle description
Unique like no other Triumph Spitfire.
I"ve owned the "Spit" since 1976. The car went through two, (2) complete nut and bolt restorations. It was initially a daily driver then after the second restoration driven only occasionally.
The brakes and suspension have been upgraded, (Nissan Calipers, GT6 rotors, uprights and springs). Powered by an Oldsmobile 215 CID Jetfire V8, (the original Garret Air-Research turbo and single barrel Side Draft Carter Carb) was replaced with a new Edelbrock 4 BRL carb). The frame is epoxy coated, all suspension components are new and upgraded, the (A-Frames) and supports are powder coated. Some photos were taken during project initiation when the Turbo Charger System was in place.
The drive train utilizes a Ford 5 speed manual transmission, the wheels are Minilite with new tires. The paint, (Chrome Illusion) changes colors depending on the light and view angle. The interior is in excellent condition. Audio system is AM/FM/ Cassette with electric antenna. The optional steel hardtop with glass windows is on the car. I have the soft top frame but no vinyl top is included.
The exhaust includes Custom built headers by Rewarder, cooling is managed by a Griffin Aluminum radiator and two thermostatically controlled electric fans. The hood bulge is a Mopar 6 Pack scoop mounted in reverse. The scoop was required to allow clearance for the original Olds Jetfire turbo system, (which created excessive heat and deformed a small spot on the scoop).
The car"s appearance is uniquely unusual, (it will stop traffic). Due to the Olds V8 engine and the Ford 5 speed drive train configuration this Spitfire drives like no other Triumph and is not mild mannered. It will easily pull out from a dead stop in 2nd gear. The car is has a clear title and has the current PA inspection.
