This car was recently purchased from it’s Washington seller/restorer who recently completed the full cosmetic and partial mechanical restoration. Details of the restoration include new bodywork and fresh red paint ( on a very honest and straight body) to a nice standard. Chromework appears to be very good to excellent original items. The original windshield looks very decent and has been refitted after paintwork with a new rubber gasket. The interior shows extremely well in handsome black vinyl. Details include new carpet set, OEM vinyl seat covers, totally restored dashboard high gloss facia, top pad, door seals and scraper rubber, stainless threshhold plates, wood shift knob, nice steering wheel, excellent black soft top, original black tonneau cover. PLEASE SEE WALK AROUND VIDEO. Mechanically, the car is a sweetheart. The healthy engine revs hard through it’s upgraded Weber carb, coupled to a great shifting gearbox with good clutch. The braking system appears to be completely renewed along with new grippy tires, nice exhaust. The previous owner indicated that he completely rebuilt the front and rear suspension with new bushes. The car runs, drives, stops, steers, handles confidently and feels good going down the road, making all of the right noises. PLEASE SEE DRIVING VIDEO. There is some minor vibration detected at 45-50 mph, which feels like rear tires or a slightly imbalanced driveshaft/halfshaft- but should be an easy fix. It was just driven 50 miles without a hiccup. Overall, a well restored and handsome Spitfire in nice colors, ready to be enjoyed. These attractive convertibles are now getting plenty of attention in the affordable classic car market.
