Vehicle description
HELLO, HOW ARE YOU TODAY? I AM SELLING A 1971 FORD F100 RANGER. TWO WHEEL DRIVE, 6 FOOT BED, 302, AUTOMATIC. THIS TRUCK WAS IN STORAGE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THE TRUCK STARTED LIFE IN Southern California, THEN MADE IT"S WAY TO FLORIDA, THEN FROM THERE, CAME TO MASSACHUSETTS. FOR A 1971 PICK UP THIS TRUCK IS VERY CLEAN. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE UNDER SIDE. THE ONLY RUST I HAVE FOUND ON IT, WAS A SMALL SPOT ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR, ID SAY THE SIZE OF A QUARTER, AND IT IS NOT EVEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH, THERE IS SOME RUST ON THE INNER SUPPORT PART OF THE HOOD ITSELF, AND ID SAY A SPOT IN THE BED THE SIZE OF A PENNY. I INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY, AND THE NOTICED THE BATTERY TRAY IS ABSOLUTELY RUST FREE, WHICH IS RARE. THE INNNER FENDERS, AND NEAR THE HOOD HINGES WHERE THEY USUALLY RUST IS SPOTLESS. THE FLOORS, ROCKERS, AND MOST OF THE SHEET METAL IS ALL ORIGINAL TO THE TRUCK. ONE OF THE PREVIOUS OWNERS REPLACED THE FLOOR IN THE BED OF THE TURCK, ITS NOT AN EXACT FACTORY MATCH, BUT HE DID A NICE JOB, THE BED SUPPORTS ARE ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT SHAPE. I DO NOT HAVE THE TAILGATE, AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT IS SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME. ALSO THE DOOR PANELS ARE MISSING, I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THEY ARE EITHER, BUT BOTH ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE. I DO NOT WANT TO MISREPRESENT THIS TRUCK IN ANY WAY! THE TRUCK STARTED LIFE AS A 6CYL, 3 SPEED, AT SOME POINT SOMEONE INSTALLED A 302, WHICH I WOULD SAY IS FROM THE 80"S, OR 90"S AT THE SAME TIME THEY INSTALLED A FORD METRIC TRANSMISSION. THE TRUCK RUNS VERY WELL! ALWAYS STARTS RIGHT UP, HAS GREAT OIL PRESSURE, AND RUNS VERY SMOOTH. THEY ADDED HEADDERS, AND DUAL EXHAUST WHEN THEY PUT THE V8 IN, IT SOUNDS NICE WHEN ITS RUNNING. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT MUCH, I HAVE TAKEN UP AND DOWN THE STREET A FEW TIMES, SEEMS TO SHIFT OK, AND HAS NOT EVER OVER HEATED, OR DONE ANYTHING OUT OF CHARACTER. I WANT TO BE CLEAR, I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT MUCH, SO I CANT PROMISE YOU IT WILL MAKE IT FROM PITTSFIELD TO LA. LOL I REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, ADJUSTED THE BRAKES, IT HAS 4 WHEEL DRUMS, IT DOES STOP, AND HAS A GOOD PEDAL, ALL THE LINES, AND HOSES LOOK OK. THE STEERING BOX LEAKS QUITE A BIT, SO I WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACING IT. STEERS GREAT, BUT ITS COMING OUT OF THE SHAFT SEAL ON THE BOX. ALL THE LIGHTS SEEM TO WORK OK, EVEN THE DOME LIGHT WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR. I ALSO REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND STARTER. THE ODOMETER SAYS 64,939 THE PREVIOUS OWNER TRIED TO TELL ME THAT WAS THE ACTUAL MILES, BUT THE TITLE SAYS TRUE MILES UNKNOWN. I WANT TO BE UPFRONT ABOUT THIS. THE INTERIOR IS PRETTY COMPLETE AS FAR AS THE DASH GOES, THE DASH PAD IS ACTUALLY IN VERY NICE SHAPE, THE SEAT, IS THE ORIGINAL SEAT TO THE TRUCK. WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE V8 AND AUTOMATIC THEY REMOVED THE STANDARD COLUMN SHIFT COLUMN, AND ADDED THE FLOOR SHIFTER, IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD. ALL THE GAUGES WORK, ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE DASH. THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF THE TRUCK IS WHITE, AT SOME POINT SOMEONE PUT A WHITE PRIMER/SEALER ON IT, WHICH IS WHAT IS CURRENTLY ON IT. ITS DEFINITELY PRESENTABLE, BUT IT IS BY NO MEANS A FOOSE DESIGN PAINT JOB. AS I STATED EARLIER THIS COULD BE DRIVEN DAILY WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT, OR WOULD MAKE A GREAT TRUCK TO BUILD. TRYING TO FIND A SOLID 6FT BED 2WD EARLY 70"S TRUCK IS NOT EASY. I PURCHASED IT WITH THE INTENSION OF GOING THROUGH IT, BUT I JUST DO NOT HAVE THE TIME, FOR IT RIGHT NOW. I HAVE A CLEAN, CLEAR MASSACHUSETTS TITLE FOR IT. I AM HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY REASONABLE-LOGICAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRUCK. I CAN BE REACHED AT 413- EIGHT TWO TWO- ONE 6 5 EIGHT. THE TRUCK IS LOCATED ON A MAJOR ROUTE SO GETTING AN AUTO TRANSPORTER TO IT IS NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL. I AM HAPPY TO HELP LOAD IT, AND MAKE SURE IT LEAVES SAFELY. I AM LOCATED 2 1/2 HOURS FROM BOSTON, 3 HOURS FROM NYC, AND 5 HOURS FROM THE DELEWARE MEMORIAL BRIDGE. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, STAY SAFE, AND HAVE A GREAT DAY! ! !
