Vehicle description
Rare 1970 Imperial LeBaron Coupe. The last year to be known as the stand alone Imperial brand, as the 1971 models were sold as "Chrysler Imperial". A beautiful example of Syd Mead design, few examples of this style survived the demolition derby age, and even fewer have as many original parts as this one does. So many body panels are just huge, and there are mirror like vistas that you can see in the pictures. This car has been professionally repainted by one of the previous owners in the original color, and the vinyl roof has been replaced as well. The paint finish on this car is one of the nicest attributes (along with the fantastic bumpers) of the refurbishment. The car runs well, with most of the major mechanicals working (alas, the air conditioning system isn"t one of them, although the parts all appear to be there). The leather on the seats could use some conditioning to soften them up a bit and prevent further deterioration. Original hubcaps (two sets) and unique backspacing steel wheels (not pictured) are included in addition to two sets of aftermarket wheels (one aluminum set and one color matched powder coated steel set with incorrect backspacing). The car currently has a rather loud set (for my taste) of aftermarket mufflers, but some people love the roar of a Mopar 440, so the new owner gets to decide if they should stay or go. There"s a few other imperfections (gas gauge not working, passenger seat back needs support), but this is a great platform to be able to do a little bit of work and have something that nobody else has. A NOS trunk liner is in a box in the back seat, and the original rebuilt carburetor is in the trunk as well. Plenty of summer left to enjoy this magnificent example of a personal luxury coupe!
