Vehicle description
LAND ROVER SERIES 2A 1968 MODEL Rare and collectible Snowy Mountains Scheme Vehicle Only the 4 th owner of this vehicle – original purchased from Land Rover in 1968 it is one of only around 250 Land Rovers that were imported between 1949 and 1974 in to Australia
for use by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Authority and was in service until the late 1970’s. He drove the vehicle in the Snowy Mountains Anniversary parade in Cooma. In 2003 he passed the vehicle on to a fellow geologist who also used the vehicle as a field exploration until 2005 when he decided to put the vehicle in to storage. In 2013 I purchased the vehicle which was still in good condition and drivable, with minor rust in the firewalls and chassis. The clutch, brakes and master cylinder were in need of repair or replacement. After taking possession of the vehicle I sent it to Land Vehicle Spares at Silverdale who assigned the vehicle to their chief mechanic. They carried out extensive mechanical work to the vehicle – see photo of job card and invoices – plus rust repairs to the firewall and chassis. Although the vehicle looks more than fair in its current condition it is ready for a full metal restoration. I have purchased new doors, front fenders (full wing assemblies), door tops, seals, wing mirrors, wiper assemblies – see photo of invoice.
More photos of vehicle to come soon. Exact Milage to come soon. This vehicle represents outstanding value at USD $30,000 ono. The hard work has been done and with paint and panel work this vehicle will be in as new condition. Don’t miss out on this rare collectible piece of history.
