Vehicle description
Hello fellow Ebayers, What you are looking at here today is a real time warp. It is a remarkably original 73 year old Hudson super six sedan. I am also 73 and have a factory in Atlanta where we build handicap vans. I am also a serious British car collector. This past fall I was asked by a friend to find a really good 1947 model car for a theatrical production at Christmas time. This allowed me to buy what I wanted, so after much searching, I came upon this 1947 Hudson sedan. It is in all original condition except the long time owner had installed a 350 Chevy engine and automatic trans so he could actually drive it. This made it more appealing to me as I like to drive my old cars also. When the car arrived, my guys in my shop looked at the brakes and they were new on the front, but the rear end was very worn, so after much research we found that 1990-2001 Jeep Cherokee rear axle was exactly the same bolt pattern and width, plus it had a 355 gear ratio which mated up much better with this little 350 V8. We bought a 2000 Cherokee rear axle and installed it with new brakes. .Now the car was drivable and stoppable. I have personally driven the car probably 50 miles or so and it is not bad to drive. All the lights, turn signals, spot lights, door locks and window mechanisms work. It charges well and starts right up when cold. Previous owner added a couple little gauges under dash as Speedo and gas gauge do not function. But the car is really, really just as it came from the factory otherwise. All original interior materials. The seat are both badly frayed on the bottoms but door panels, headliner are very good still and even dome lights work. Car was originally a 3 speed on column and previous owner used the original shifter unmodified. Down is park, then up one is reverse, one more neutral, then drive and Park. It looks unmodified. The clutch pedal just lays flat on the floor. Anyway, now that the Christmas production is finished, I have the car back to offer to someone who will be very happy to get such a solid, original car. This car was originally sold in Mayville Wisc as I have the owners manual. It then was in long term ownership of man in colorado. Please feel free to ask anything you want or come and drive the car at our Atlanta area factory. The price is a little less than we actually have in this car but I am most interested in seeing it go to someone who will care for it as it has been for the last 73 years. Thanks for looking.
