Vehicle description
You are looking at one seriously rare modern muscle car that draws from the heritage of the original muscle car era by honoring the coolest car, the coolest lead character and the wildest high-speed chase in the coolest movie of its kind ever!
In case you don"t know, that movie is "Vanishing Point" from 1971. Without telling you too much more about the movie, the lead character is a man known simply as "Kowalski" and he leads cops on a crazy high-speed chase from Denver to California on his way to San Francisco in an all-White 1970 Challenger R/T with a 440 4-speed. The entire movie is legendary and the car is the star of the film.
As a longtime Dodge Dealer and muscle car nut, for years I was constantly badgering the executives at Chrysler and specifically the Dodge brand to get back into building muscle cars. Real muscle cars with a powerful V8, available manual trans and of course rear wheel drive. I specifically pushed for a Challenger. This led me to working closely with the product planners when it finally came time to develop the new Challenger.
Before the car ever came to market in 2008, all I could think about was doing a Vanishing Point edition as a tribute to the movie. I couldn"t imagine it without the top performing engine available and White just wasn"t available on the SRT model in 2008, "09 or "10.
In 2011, the SRT would get the all-new 392 Hemi. The first 1,392 Challenger SRTs would be called Inaugural Edition 392s, available in Blue with White stripes and White/Blue interior or White with Blue stripes and White/Blue Interior. This was the only way to get a White Challenger SRT 392 and it required the stripes, White interior and Black Pocket Wheels. This looked like my opportunity to request a special run of all-White Vanishing Point cars. At first I had no luck, but through consulting and meeting with the top Dodge guys and product planners, we sat down in Chrysler"s design studio and figured out how we could do it. It wasn"t like the old days when they could build whatever they felt like, things are all automated now. My marketing manager and fellow Mopar nut Blake Greenstein and I had already drawn up exactly what the package would be, we just had to figure out with Dodge which things Dodge could do in the factory and which things we would have to do at the dealership to finish the cars. Amazingly, they were able to alter the regular production process and make it happen.
The result was the Frederick Scat Pack Kowalski Edition in a run of just 10 cars.
These cars are NOT merely a regular Challenger with a dealer sticker package. The Kowalski cars are absolutely built by Dodge and are the only special run of consecutive VIN and consecutive special order number cars ever built to that point. They are the only ten all-White SRTs built in 2011. Unlike the Inaugural cars, they all have Black interiors, The factory even had dash plaques made (See Pics) that read "Frederick Scat Pack Kowalski Edition xx of 10". They also carry a very special build code of 57X.
All Kowalski Edition cars came with the following equipment:
* 2011 Challenger SRT8 * SRT 392 HEMI V8 * 6-Speed Manual Trans * Bright White Paint * Black Leather/Suede Seats with Red Stripe seatback * Alcoa 20x9 Aluminum SRT Silver/Machined Wheels * 730 Radio w/ Navigation * SRT Option Group II * Heritage Hurst Pistol Grip Shift Lever with Woodgrain Grips * Hurst Short Throw Shifter * Skip Shift Eliminator * Mopar Chrome Quad Exhaust Tips * Kowalski Edition Badging * Kowalski Edition Numbered Factory Dash Plaque * Scat Pack 1/4 Window Bees * Frederick Scat Pack Option I.D. Tag (Fender Tag) * Frederick Scat Pack Build Sheet * Replica Kowalski Colorado 1970 metal License Plate OA5599
This particular car came with the optional N43 Flowmaster Catback Exhaust as confirmed by the fender tag and build sheet.
There are several magazine articles about the Kowalski cars and their significance. This particular car is featured in more than one of them.
This car is a completely original, unmodified, 2,600 mile Kowalski that is just as it rolled out of Frederick Scat Pack in April of 2011.
Never has it been in rain or snow and has been stored indoor since new. All original build sheets, shipping materials and window sticker are included with the sale. Also included are the magazine articles written about and featuring this car.
This car is personally signed by Ralph Gilles, CEO of SRT and Head of design at Chrysler. See Pics
