Every car and owner have a story, and here"s ours. . Bought this car, last of the manual transmission wagons - and rare, as you know, last fall on Ebay with plan to go full Stage III. Took to my mechanic, best Audi shop in Santa Fe, for full inspection and with the question: Is this car worth investing in. He said yes, has good bones and will make good power. So after a full service (all filters, fluids, etc.) we got to work taking care of some details and doing preemptive maintenance, such as the timing belt, water pump, primary drive belt and tensioner, oil filter bracket and cooler seal, control arm bushings, new key, airbag recall, new battery, and a couple grand worth of little stuff - as I like my cars to be completely sorted and up to date mechanically. But before we started on the tuning upgrades, my plans changed, and now I"m looking for something I can flat tow behind an RV. Life. Upshot is, Audi is still all stock and good to go as a daily driver for another good many years and miles, or as your project car (or both). When I bought it, the Texas seller disclosed that it had been hit on the driver door (no airbags deployed), which had been replaced, but that it was on a rebuilt salvage title as a result of this. Didn"t matter to me, because I planned to keep it and use it up the fun way. But it might matter to you. It also has a few very little door dings and scratches, the rims are all a bit scuffed at the edge, and on close inspection it shows its age in a few places (like under the chin), even though on first impression is shows rather well. Interior is good, leather looks and feels younger than it is, and I"ll get photos of all that up in the next days. Tires still have about 50% tread and no damage, and everything works as it should. Put in new rubber floor mats and a few other extras.
