Vehicle description
Selling my 2006 GTI that I had since 2008 and 18K. Most of the miles on the car are highway miles and the car has always been maintained exceeding manufacturer"s specs. Oil was changed every 3K miles. DSG transmission fluid was changed last at 135K. It had 4 DSG flushes in it"s life. Car also received a new Mechatronic unit during last transmission service as the old one started acting up. This vehicle is equipped with MFactory helical LSD. When LSD was installed at about 125K, clutches were also replaced. Old ones were still in great shape, but figured I"d have the shop replace them since transmission was out of the car. I"ve replaced the cam follower 3 times as supposedly they have a tendancy to fail, but mine were always in great shape. I am sure it had something to do with frequent oil changes and the quality of oil. Car has new front axles and I recently replaced the passenger"s side wheel bearings. Car has all Powerflex poly bushings, 034Motorsports engine and VWRacing transmission mounts. It currently has BC Racing coilovers, but stock shocks and springs are included. It also has Brembo brakes from 986 Porsche Boxster, although the front rotors can be replaced. They are stock sized GTI rotors. Car drives and feels great and the engine is strong. It was never in any major accidents, but it was hit twice while parked on the streets of Manhattan. The was no major damage other than scratched paint and dented fenders. After the second accident about 3 years ago, it was never parked on the street again. The only issue the car has is the airbag light on. The code is for driver"s side airbag sensor and I just haven"t had the time to replace it, which is not a terribly hard job and one can get to it by removing the door skin. It has typical for the mileage stone chips a 3 inch spot on the lower side of the front bumper where clearcoat is missing. Mechanically the car is in great shape. Below is the summary of the car highlights:
- Fresh mechatronic unit (installed about 10K ago)
- Fresh OEM (expensive) axles
- Always had oil changed with the best oil at 3K or less intervals

- 034 Motorsports street density motor mounts
- VW Racing transmission mount and Powerflex bushing on the other end of the dogbone
- MFactory helical LSD
- Fresh clutches that were installed when LSD was put in at about 130K (Old ones still looked new, so these have a long way to go)

- Front Hotchskis bar
- 034 Motorsports rear sway bar endlinks
- BC Racing coilovers
