“This TDI Passat has had every major and expensive issue that these great cars experience addressed-the automatic transmission has been swapped out for a 5 speed manual, the troublesome balance shaft module (BSM) has been deleted and replaced with an ALH chain drive oil pump, the EGR cooler and EGR valve have been replaced, and the camshaft has been replaced. The car runs awesome and returns better than 40mpg-usually about 42 mpg on a tank of fuel for about 75% highway, ad 25% city driving. It has always been a New Mexico vehicle since new so no rust, but some fading in the paint from the intense high desert sunshine. Other than the minor cosmetic issues, this VW Passat TDI is in excellent condition. See photos for blemishes-the paint on the hood and on the roof has gotten sunbaked. The driver's seat bottom has some stitching separating, there was a little parking lot ding on the left rear quarter, the chrome finish on the grill is peeling some, and it has some stone chips in the hood.” |

Vehicle description
Would you like to get 40 to 45 mpg and own and drive a B5.5 2005 Volkswagen Passat TDI turbo Diesel that has no risk of any of the major problems that these great cars develop? How about no expensive automatic transmission needing replacement or rebuilding? No balance shaft module and oil pump to break? No camshaft or cylinder head problems or EGR trouble? Well, here it is. This Passat TDI has had the automatic transmission replaced by a 5 speed manual transmission. It has a new remanufactured cylinder head with billet camshaft, and "black" lifters. It has a had the BSM-(balance shaft module) replaced with the more reliable chain-driven oil pump from the earlier ALH TDI engines-the ones that last 500,000 miles or more. The EGR valve and EGR cooler have been replaced. The in-tank fuel lift pump has been replaced. The car runs and drives excellent. It has not had the engine control module reprogrammed to manual transmission yet, so the PRNDL still shows in the instrument cluster. It"s only a matter of sending the ecm to a Malone dealer for reprogramming to manual transmission. The car also does need a new windshield as the current windshield is cracked, which is not illegal in New Mexico. This Passat TDI has been my daily driver with mostly highway driving and I get 42 mpg tank after tank. Filling up the ORVR breather bottle with fuel means you can get more than 720 mpg on a tank of fuel! This is the ultimate in efficiency, economy, and great usable power for a great drivability experience. The car has been owned and operated in New Mexico since new, so it has zero rust. It leaks no oil, has newer tires, heated seats, power windows, air conditioning all operate perfectly. Cruise control works. Buy it, fly in, drive it home. Or have it shipped. Shipping is the buyer"s responsibility. I will work with a shipper to facilitate pick up and hold the car as long as the buyer needs. If you think the asking price is too high and you"re serious about owning this beauty, make me an offer. I have done my best to represent every flaw and do not present this as a new or perfect car. It is a great, comfortable, and now reliable, family sedan that has classic lines, and runs and drives great. At 253,000 miles it still has tons of life left in it-considering the problems have all been addressed with completely reliable solutions. Sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. I have the engine cover in storage. I leave it off so I can look at the engine for oil leaks if they develop and to keep the cover from trapping heat. It also has a full set of VW Passat OEM monster mats that are difficult to see in the photos.
