Vehicle description
Rare, Riveting And All-Encompassing: Worldwide production of only 960 cabriolets. Probably less then 1/2 Manual. Mezger. PCCBs. Larger Turbos. This exquisite 2005 911 Turbo S Cabriolet stuns in its rare color, with matching hard top. This was a California car I bought and just shipped to the leeward side of Oahu.
This particular example is 100% stock and is in immaculate shape all around. Everything looks brand new, which shows how great this super low, 27K mile car was taken care of.
The 996 Turbos have been steadily climbing in price, and the best and rare low mile examples are starting to sky rocket in price. They are finding their way into high end collections, as the modern era of new Porsche buyers are starting to take notice. These early, water cool era cars possess a very likable, sleek curvature, and combined with their comfort and unchallenged drivability, it’s no surprise that they are at the top of the market.
“I would like to share my personal observations about the 996 Turbo"s! The engine was designed by Hans Metzger, probably the best Porsche engine designer ever. Mr. Metzger designed the engines for my Porsche factory team cars that we won the 2000 American Le Mans Series with. They were absolutely bulletproof, enabling us to win 10 out of 12 races. We also won the European Le Mans Series in 2000. The 996 Turbo engines are not the same design as used in the normal 996 911"s. There was a intermediate shaft bearing problem with those cars and some have thought the Turbo"s also had a problem. Not true, Mr. Metzger"s engines feature a totally different design. Serviced properly, they will provide many hundred"s of thousands of miles with spectacular performance.” Dick Barbour.
