Vehicle description
Looks good and runs strong, but needs a little work. Rare and powerful 4.2L V8; Leather, sunroof, all wheel drive, very cold air conditioning, newish tires (3,000 miles) with lots of tread life left. Custom exhaust sounds great. Engine is strong and fast (see videos at Flikr site.) Dual air climate control and heated seats. Paint is fairly good, but has some of the usual rock chips and a couple of minor scuffs. Black plasti-dip is coming off in a couple of areas - tried to capture it all with pictures and three videos at my Flikr site.
Find the pictures and videos by going to Flikr, searching for "stillersteve" and clicking on the "people" tab. That"ll take you to the site, which has extra pictures and videos showing the starting and driving experience.
Work performed: Recent oil change with 5W30 full synthetic. Had valve cover gaskets replaced, crank position sensor and cam position sensor replaced, installed new coolant expansion tank, intake manifold gasket, and valley pan gasket replaced.
We put on 10,000 miles in a year-and-a-half of owning the car and it never failed to start right up and never failed to get us where we were going. It"s large and stable, great handling, sturdy. It"s a car that inspires confidence in every way.
For the bad: salvage/rebuilt title, noted not actual mileage. Check engine light is on - reading is camshaft position sensor and timing chain. Air bag light is on. Driving under acceleration is smooth all the way through the power band and in neutral is fine. When driving at a constant speed there is a small oscillation at about 1,000 to 1,200 RPMs (RPMs bounce within that range, very minor surge and return). It needs front sway bar link (have $180 quote) and left axle boot is torn. The emergency brake is non-functioning, but the brakes themselves work great. It leaks a little oil still - a quart every 2-3 months.
It will run fine without any additional work, but it won"t pass smog in California with the check engine light on. With a little work, you"ll have a great car.
