“This vehicle has been gone through with a fine tooth comb, but there are still some things that need to be addressed. After all, this is a 15 year old car. Additionally, this car was created from two cars and has two titles. The chassis is from a 2000 Golf 1.8T five-door with a clean title. The engine, drivetrain and interior came from a 2004 R32 with a rebuilt title. This car carries the 2000 Golf Clean Title; however, both titles will be signed over to the buyer. Please see the Item Description for more details.” |

As seen on Jalopnik!
For sale is a beautiful car that has been a labor of love for both my friend and I. We are both mechanics with a combined 25+ years of experience building, restoring and modifying everything from classic muscle cars to modern sports cars. And this project all started with a dream.
I have kids and needed a four door car, but I wanted a sporty, classic, reliable, good-looking hatch back for under $30K that would drive comfortably and handle outstandingly. Obviously the MkIV R32 was a good option, but it was only sold by VW as a two door coupe in North America. Importing one is too expensive. Comparable newer cars like the Ford Focus RS "could" become classic, but its way more than $30k. Thus spawned our passion project we dubbed the R32 "P3" or Performance Practicality Project. This took us about six months to fully build and it was generously documented. All new parts were installed in the car or made like new where possible. The engine has only 112,000 miles, runs fantastic and has no mechanical issues whatsoever. We spent way too much money on this project (we went over budget and ran out of money) and don"t expect to be paid for our labor, but we do need to sell it to fund other projects. We are hoping to at least break even in an effort to give this amazing car to a good home.
This car has been given the love, maintenance and attention that it deserves due to its classic nature, cult-like following and rarity. It drives, handles and feels better than a new Audi. We are happy to provide this car to the good home of an enthusiast that can appreciate this car for what it is.

The car still needs a few things that we can"t afford to remedy. We will consider taking care of these things if the buyer would like to pay for materials and labor or negotiate that in the sale price if need be.
Rear window gaskets need replacing Oil pan has the slightest leak - needs new gasket sealer
Radiator has the slightest leak The radio from the 2000 Golf was installed in this car, but does not work because it needs a security code from the dealer Alignment may be a little off and left front brake caliper bracket rubs on rotor, only in reverse. We suspect that the front-end accident that the R32 was in that precipitated the salvage title may have bent the left front wheel carrier. We have eliminated almost all other possibilities.
