About me. . I get vehicles in all the time. some are trades, some consignments, local sellers, auctions etc. I"m out to prove that you can be honest AND successful in this business. I have learned that people get rid of cars generally because of? Right, there"s a problem. .I know a LOT of flippers who get the car. do NOTHING to it except unplug the battery so the ck eng light doesn"t come on until after you buy it. They roll back miles, etc. I refuse to do that. There are a LOT of good vehicles out there and I think I can offer them at prices that are mutually beneficial to us. Here"s how this works. . I get the car, I drive it for a little while in order to ascertain why they sold it. I tell you everything I find. .I offer it to you the raw unedited condition that I get it in with FULL disclosure before I repair it. Once I repair it. the game changes. If you"re a mechanic or know someone who is, you can do good for yourself. . ok. with that being said. . here"s a:
2002 Honda CR-V AWD. I put over 1000 miles on it, when I got it, it had 22122 miles. Here"s what I found:
The good: It drives and handles GREAT real smooth ride, smooth acceleration, great heat, windows, doors sunroof all work fine. I really like how it drives tho. Interior is clean, no evidence of smoker, exterior is clean, one little bubble area over right rear fender (see pic) Title is clean, No check eng. lights. Maint Req is on. it needs an oil change. We had "15 of snow here a few weeks ago, it walked over that stuff like it wasn"t there. .Charging system works, no exhaust, gas, or antifreeze fumes, idles right. no creaks and weird noises going over bumps. I can deliver it for a fee as well!
The bad: I noticed It had a small leak of trans fluid from drvrs side. it was in the snow. I took it to my trans guy, we took the left axle off. The seal was torn. no biggie but we noticed too much play in the axle which is why it tore the old seal and the new one that we put in. It"s going to need a trans. You"d never know it the way it drives tho and that"s the scary part. this is the part flippers leave out to stick you with the bill. I"d avoid used trans"s on THIS type of vehicle. rebuilt is the way to go. anyway. .front left caliper sticks sometimes, needs a new mstr. cylinder. It appears the transmissions in these cars are weak, so beware if you buy a used one without a warranty, be prepared to drop another $1500-$2000. It"s missing the antenna, gonna need a new battery soon. It"s fine as long as you drive it everyday. Started right up in 15 degree weather.
I have this slated to get a rebuild in 2wks. I have the brakes and rotors in box,,you can see it on the main pic. it doesn"t need them, but I"m changing them anyway, new master cylinder, and calipers(both sides) I do not have that yet. Once repaired, we"re looking at $4750. BUT the trans will have a 12/12 warranty that I will pass on to the buyer. That"s the scoop on this one. Once this is repaired, this vehicle should run for many miles with proper maintenance. the motors in these just don"t quit. If you buy it, I"d drive it until the trans dies. THEN replace it. but at least you"ll be ready and it won"t catch you by surprise! You"ll have a GREAT and dependable car once these issues are cleared up and YOU will know exactly what you have. Asking price is 2400. we will negotiate from there. Scammers? KEEP IT MOVING, Low ballers? forget it. .don"t waste your time or mine. If you see one of THESE vehicles cheap. there is a reason and 9 times out of 10, the seller knows it. .you will not get into one of these for under 2000. not unless it"s a total piece of crap.
