Vehicle description

Solid and safe transportation we have had for three years and put about 21000 miles on.
Things about which to be aware- AC blows cool, not cold. At the start of Summer I hit it with AC-Pro and the the primary driver (daughter child) gets through without suffering heatstroke. AC vents will point towards the floor unless tiny bits of business cards are wedged strategically. There is a small crack in the windshield, center bottom, out of line of sight (8-12 inches or so). Especially when cold, there is a bit of timing chain rattle when started (it has done this since we bought it, as disclosed by the previous seller). This may be as it was designed, but the power locks only work from the driver door switch; the key only unlocks that door from the outside, not all doors. The head lights are on all of the time; since this is better than never being on and they go off with the ignition, I"ve not tried to troubleshoot. It throws codes now and then, but they appear spurious and I just erase them.
The V6 starts readily, idles and revs smoothly. No smoke or significant oil leaks. Does not run hot. Automatic transmission shifts, well, automatically. Brakes re-done at 164000 miles. Tires and alignment at 157000 (Firestone FR710, 65000 mile warranty). New battery at some point. Tracks straight, no weird vibrations. Ride and handling are fine. Fairly quiet and comfortable.
The XL7 is a body on frame vehicle, based on a truck chassis. It"s stoutly made. The ABS works and it has front airbags. Visibility is good. It"s a modern vehicle that a 16-19yo driver can be turned loose in.
Except as noted above, all power accessories work. Even the sun-roof. It has a really good after-market radio/CD player.
The exterior looks about like you"d expect a 16 year old vehicle to look. Not disreputable, not new. No rust, no known accident damage [revision- I see from the history that there was an accident reported in 2011. News to us; I can"t tell the severity or even the location of the damage]. The interior is clean. No stains or rips anywhere, door panels are sound, all head-rests accounted for, no cracks in the dash. Cleans up nicely. Non-smoker since we bought it.
It gets 19-21 in town. We don"t know what it gets on the highway as it has never been much more than 60 miles from home. Has been used as a school and work commuter for a young driver who drives it gently, as you"d ride an old horse. Lets it warm up on cold days, doesn"t shift unless stopped, never red-lines it, checks the oil consistently (uses a quart every 500-700 miles or so) and basically treats it like she likes it.
The XL 7 technically seats 7, which it might providing the 7 are the Japanese Olympic Gymnastics Team. All the seats slide and recline as they should, but it"s a comfortable ride for four. It"s long enough that my daughter has camped in it.
I don"t know what more can be expected of a vehicle in this price range, and will endeavor to answer any questions promptly; please ask questions before bidding. I have a local offer from a friend, which may or may not be the $1550 they have on hand. They endorse this listing as they know it"s worth more than that. It"s not listed elsewhere and if the reserve is met, it"s sold. If you can find a better car for less than $2500, you should buy it. That said, if it swallows its tongue the day after you take delivery, I"ll feel really bad, but no more than that. But I don"t think it will.
