I bought this car from Mercedes of Oakland in 2006 and I believe that I"m the 2nd and still owner. It was a CPO with 31,00 miles on the clock. It has always been maintained by Mercedes or a Mercedes specialty shop. It has spent its entire life in Norther California and Nevada so not much chance for rust. It has always been garaged during my ownership. I just took delivery on a new GLE450 so old reliable must go. I can provide service records as requested. It was in one accident that I"m aware of. I was rear-ended on the 101 in Santa Clara in 2009. The work was done by German Autobody to Mercedes standards. Other than that, nothing but minor parking lot scratches and dings, mostly all fixed.
Brakes and tires were new about 9,000 miles ago. Speaking of tires, I had to go up one size because no ones makes the original size anymore. They work great but the Speedo is off by 2mph at 70. The AC compressor was replaced last August and the air blows cold. I replaced the original Bose headend unit with a Pioneer about 4 years ago. It has decent navi, much better sound, bluetooth handsfree and Apple play capability. Speaking of obsolescence, the remote key fobs are no longer available. The good new is that I have three working units that should be good for awhile.
The interior is in good condition, Rear seat very good, passenger seat good and drivers seat shows wear but no rips or tears. I have original Mercedes all-weather mats, much better than Weathertech. Carpets, headliner and dash are all good. The overhead trip computer never worked right and the replacement also failed quickly. The real kicker, was that it drained the battery. Consequently under the advice of my favorite mechanic, it was disconnected I"ve had no battery issues since.
Somewhere during the next year the car will require a B service. The transmission, differential and transfer case will require fluid changes, A good detail is in order for 1022. The battery is about 3 years old so good for now, probably a 2023 job.
This is a good solid car. It as been used but not abused and has always been maintained. Should be good for may more years.
