Vehicle description
Well this is one of those stories that you wish you would have run on to. This 2001 Mazda Millenia S has 34,000 one owner miles. Actually it only had 31,000 when I bought it two months ago. Here is the story that I would not believe if I had not been there. It was owned by a 96 year old lady in Sturgis MI since new and was the only car she bought after her husband died in 2000. She paid $32,805 (see the window sticker photo) for it the local dealer. She drove it until she was 90 (2010) when she had a frontend hit in her garage damaging the bumper cover, headlight, grill, and hood. This resulted in her family ending her driving and this is where the story gets interesting. She would not let them fix it and sell it and it just set in her garage for almost 7 years. Then her health resulted in placing her in an assisted living home and the family now was able to sell the Mazda. This is where I come in. I have owned 6 other Millenias over the years and always loved them. I learned of the car from a co-worked who knows the family. As you might imagine it would not start and it was obvious that the brakes were in bad shape. I could see that it would take a good amount of work to fix the frontend and the mechanical issues but it was so nice I just had to take it on as a challenge. I had it brought home on a roll back and began the recovery. I put all new brakes-rotors, calipers, pads all around. I drained the tank and changed the fuel filters and a new battery and it fired right up and ran great. Now for the body work. I bought a NOS bumper cover, a nice left headlight, a nice grill and hood. There was only minor issues behind the external damage and everything went back together nicely. As you can see, the paint is great all around with only three minor dings anywhere. I also but new 60,000 mile tires on it. You can see in the truck is the original front plate bracket that is still in the bag. I will tell you that while it set in a concrete floor garage all its life, it has surface rust on the underside that does not pose any issues. I have driven it daily for the last few weeks and to OH on a 300 trip it drives like the top line Mazda luxury car it was built to be. The interior is almost perfect with only minor wear on the driver"s seat. The family told me they do not think the rear seat was ever set in. This is the Supercharged Miller Cycle engine that produces 210 HP which was amazing for 2001. I have too many cars now so my wife says something has to go. I have a new Lincoln MKC that I love and really do not need the Millenia. If I do not get my buy it now price I will keep it and drive it in the winter (what a shame!).
