SVT Mustang 2000 R Model - One of 300 Built
Most of the folks looking at this auction already know what this special car is all about. For those who are not aware of how important and exclusive the Ford "R" cars really are check out the SVT Performance website along with the myriad of articles on the 2000 R. Ebay no longer allows "Links" in the ad so I had to delete them. They are easy enough to find however. . .
To be brief, throughout Ford"s history the high-performance division have built a limited number of factory "R" Model cars. "R" represents "Race". Ford"s leadership considers this effort extremely serious. Race-Sunday Sell-Monday. Mustang "R" production has happened in 1965, 1993, 1995 and 2000 in very limited numbers. Currently an R package option is available for the new gen Mustang GT350, however much higher production numbers are being built. Not merely cosmetic treatments these R cars were meant to go racing. Period. So much racing performance and technology was included in the 2000 R it literally doubled the MSRP of a Mustang Cobra. From $27k to $55k, you get the picture. Make no mistake these are important historic vehicles, the value curve will move. As an example consider the second iteration 1993 R has been trading at 3X the original vehicles MSRP. The rest will follow. . . . . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This 2000 Cobra R For Sale : Starting life as one of the 300 SVT R"s this particular car was extremely well cared for. It has never been in an accident and retains all of it"s original sheet metal and paintwork except for a respray on the drivers door. Since the car is devoid of carpet and interior pieces it makes the job of examining this car to its bones quite easy. Accordingly there has never been any body/frame/suspension repair work done to this car. Naturally there is zero rust anywhere. This car retains its Clear Title in the state of Pennsylvania. Additionally it has a spotless AutoCheck in every category. Prior to the current ownership this car was modified to be a stock category racer. The OEM parts removed were carefully retained to perhaps restore the car back to stock specifications. Consequently it was never used for that purpose and subsequently sold. The current owner upon purchase sent the car to the top notch race team at Phoenix Performance in PA. There it would undergo a comprehensive top to bottom race prep for SCCA T-1. The attention to detail and quality of work is first class. Although it was campaigned under the "Blue Knob" livery it was one of the owners many race cars and saw limited duty. Another reason for it"s light use, the current owner and gentleman racer also considers these "R" cars to be historically significant. Hence i t has been on "show duty" since 2014. I n good conscience he wishes it to go to a new home. Whether it sees duty as a historic racer or is converted back to its stock origins, that will be for the next owner to decide.
