1999 SAAB 9-3 SE, VIN YS3DF58N7X2005572, 162,300 miles, NY State Inspection July, 2017 Auto, PS, PB, turbo. See photos for condition. Located Rochester, NY
Used and maintained as daily driver until 11/3/2017. Mechanicals all working correctly. Tires have lots of tread. Wheels are straight. Clean title. A bunch of spare parts included in sale. Sold as-is for parts or repair. Left rear upper shock mount is rusted out (see photo). This repair is beyond my DIY skills. I took my 2000 9-3 to 220k miles before selling it to downsize our fleet last year and was expecting to run this one for a couple more years. However the family council voted to not to put any more money into this one, no matter how much I like the car. Vehicle can be driven for test runs. I drove the rest of the way to my work on the expressway at 55+/- mph after it started rattling, when I was just hoping there was something loose in the trunk and back then back home on surface roads at 45 mph max after checking trunk and yanking on what I could in the parking lot - about 15 miles. Handled okay. Actual spring suspension is NOT coil over, so there"s no danger of suspension collapse (see parts diagram.) The buyer will have to decide on advisability of distance driving. Purchased from a neighbor on 2/29/2016 at 150,600 miles for my son to drive. Items replaced after purchase include 4 wheel rims, ATF fluid, sparkplugs, parking brake cables, shifter jalousie, power antenna, front turn signal pods, rebuilt ABS module, front ball joints, lower suspension arms and trailing arms, roll bar links, cabin heater O-rings, cabin air filter. Floor mats, leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and front console cup holders swapped in from 2000 SE. I had both displays rebuilt. Fixed long-term chronic trunk leak by cleaning drain channels and sealing rear light clusters; there is some rust damage in the spare wheel well, but the spare isn"t falling out. New October 2017: A/C compressor, receiver/dryer, belt tensioner and pulley, serpentine belt Replaced October 2017: base/door speaker amplifier, vacuum hose from throttle body to turbo New July 2017: A/C evaporator core and expansion valve, temperature sensor/switch New February 2017: catalyst-back exhaust system New January 2017: thermostat and thermostat housing, purchased used remote key fobs and had dealer program them See photos for a general impression of cosmetic condition. There is one rusty spot (Rust, on an 18-year-old car? Amazing, huh?) at the front seam joint of the right rear wheel arch shown in the final photo for full disclosure. I listed this to start at $1,500 having just put $1,200 into the AC, but will lower price week to week. (I"ve been on the other side of this deal with other cars when somebody winds up selling for $3,500 after dumping at least that much into the car in the previous 12 months, so I"m willing to be realistic about this sale.) I am also listing this on local CraigsList. I will take the listing down once I have cash in hand.
