Vehicle description
I have for sale one 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera, aka Porsche 996.
The engine runs great, no smoke, no check engine lights. The brakes are great, tires are great, suspension is tight. The transmission shifts fine with no grinds.
Since I bought the car last year, I"ve installed a new Sachs clutch kit at 110760 miles, and verified that the IMS has been addressed. At 110811 miles, the engine received fresh Mobile 1 oil, a new German oil filter, and a new drain plug. I"ve installed new engine mounts, new outer tie rod ends, new front sway bar end links, new horns, deck lid strut, all four oxygen sensors, and at 111169 had the transmission fluid flushed and an alignment done. Just installed new Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 front tires (rears are excellent, 2016 date stamp).
The car has a few performance add ons:
Bilstein PSS10 coilovers: awsome, tight, not harsh
B&M short shifter: tight and racey if you like that, a bit notchy, and too short a throw
Fister type exhaust mod: awesome, nice sound, not too load, lets engine sing through the rpms
K&N air filter: no opinion
Also has 18" wheels and updated tail lights.
The previous owner stated that the engine was rebuilt by Vertex Auto at 98000 miles, but he did not supply any paperwork for that.
The interior and exterior are in fair condition overall. Inside, the seats and control surfaces show wear. Outside, the car has two dings, one by the drivers side headlight, one behind the drivers side door, there are numerous chips in the paint and some specks of schmutz on the passenger side fender and door, i don"t know what it is, but it"s like a white epoxy or something, and I haven"t tried to remove it. Also, both bumpers have spider cracks in the paint, difficult to show in pictures.
In addition to wear and tear, the sunroof does not work, the ashtray door doesn"t stay closed, the remote on the key is inop, and there are some bad pixels on the instrument panel by the digital speedometer reading.
Clean, clear title, in my name.
I"ve tried to list all the faults I am aware of. Please ask any questions before you bid. A pre-purchase inspection is welcomed and encouraged.
The following is the previous owners description of the car when I purchased it, and could be considered an alternative view of the cars condition:
"We are pleased to offer this 1999 Porsche 911 Coupe. This is a 6 speed manual car with 108 K miles. The car is in excellent condition inside and out and in immaculate condition mechanically. Car has been owned and maintained by a master Porsche technician. Motor has been completely rebuilt by the Porsche master technician at 98K miles. Everything was replaced with original parts and some upgrades were done (ims, rms) vehicle runs perfect VIN#WPOAA2992XS620555 Also has: Upgraded oil fed Intermediate Shaft bearing (IMF) from European Parts Solutions. Bilstein pss10 adjustable coil over suspension Short shifter (b&M)" "K&N air filter Newer style tail lights The most important thing when considering a used Porsche is that it has been taken car of, not abused and is in good working order mechanically. This Porsche is in perfect shape mechanically. The owner is a Porsche technician and has made this car like new mechanically. He has maintained it with an open checkbook. Nothing has been left untouched. If you are looking for a great Porsche at a great price that is reliable and will bring years of driving pleasure, this is the one." I wish I shared his cheery outlook on car condition and I would disagree with his condition level rating, but overall it is a good solid driving car and a good value for the money.
