Vehicle description
1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Coupe 5.7L V8 For Sale: Up for sale is my Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This is a beloved car of mine and have taken very good care. I hate to see it go, but I have loans that need some attention and that is my priority. It is a good clean example of a 4 th -gen LS1 firebird. No rust on body and very clean. I was very proactive by repairing things on this car that typically are ignored. Please read all below, it gives a great glimpse of what you would be purchasing. I have owned the car for 8 or so years. Paint/Exterior Color is pewter and is original. Front bumper was repainted in Jan. 2018 to address minor rock chips. Paint overall (minus the front bumper) is good (minor surface scratches – standard for a car this age). No rust. Pewter is a metallic that has a very nice shine in the sun. I replaced the headlight housings with OEM units from LMC truck (they make a kit that is plug and play for these cars). They still use a stock halogen (white) bulb, but the lens is clear glass (from the factory it comes with a cloudy/rigid lines lens). This swap cleans up the look of the car. Mechanical headlights work great as well. Lubricated per maintenance recommendations regularly. Mechanical Mechanically, the car is in great shape. Full synthetic oil changes since I purchased the car. Other regular maintenance (air filter, fuel filters, serpentine, etc.) also changed out. Since I owned it, I have taken care of some major issues that are common with these cars. Some major work includes: -New A/C Compressor (typically go out on these cars). This was replaced with OEM a couple years ago -Secondary Air Emission Pump (also go out on these cars). Replaced Feb. 2018 -Rear Differential (typically last 80-100K on these cars). When they opened up the differential and told me it needed a complete overhaul (to the tune of $2,500) I decided to have them swap out the stock 2.73 gears for 3.73. I have all receipts for this work – it was done by Jim Jennings Transmissions in Essex, MD which is the best shop in the state for this kind of work -New Battery (last year) -New cat-back exhaust (magnaflow). This updated exhaust gives the car a subtle exhaust note and a more aggressive look from the rear. Installed couple years ago. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes that are closer to needing replacement (next 6-months). They were new a couple years ago and the car only drives 5-8K per year (but it’s probably time for a new set). The only current issue that I haven’t been able to address is a slight belt/pulley squeak (sometimes it doesn’t mae the noise at all?) when the car is cold and is started. It will squeak for 10 or so minutes then go away. In the past, I have replaced the idler pulley and serpentine and the noise goes away. Not 100% sure that will fix it again this time, but it can be fixed. Interior Excellent condition. 9.5/10. Leather seats have no rips, tears, or bolsters are in great condition. All plastic is un-cracked. When I purchased the car I replaced cracked door panels with OEM (typically cracked on these cars). All other plastic is in great shape. The radio was replaced with a custom OEM unit that has a 3.5mm headphone (AUX) input. I found a place that will do custom AUX input installs on factory stock radios (to keep the clean look). Tires/Wheels When I bought the car I soon after purchased corvette chrome wheels to replace stock wheels. Car comes with both sets. ORIGINAL 16” stock trans am wheels AND chrome wheels you see on the car. Tire tread on both sets is around 40-50%. Please let me know if you have any questions! I have a big file book of receipts/etc. parts I have bought that I can show too.
