Vehicle description
One of the nicest examples of a 129 you will see. This car has only 26 THOUSAND MILES miles from new, and looks, smells and feels like it, and has a clean Carfax report with a Southern history. Body shutlines are super, trunk, hood, bumpers and cladding look and fit just right, glass is correct too. The interior is immaculate top to bottom, not a mark on the dash, and nothing mounted or drilled in anywhere that doesn"t belong. Carpets, door cars and plastics are also excellent everywhere. Steering wheel is near perfect, wood trim is dead on too. The radio has been replaced with a contemporary one, for the sake of bluetooth and sat radio, and I have the factory one in a box ready to go (yes, changer is still in the trunk). Notice that is has the AMG Sport bodystyling package (you don"t want one without it). This includes the more aggressive AMG bumpers, front and rear, and the more aggressive side skirts, but best of all the 18" staggered AMG wheels. It also has the factory SL-2 option package, which in 1999 meant heated seats and xenon headlamps. It"s been over by the ding guy and the touch up guy, and I have cut and polished it with only the best chemicals for an incredible shine. I believe the paint to be original everywhere, my meter shows 4.5 to 6 on all panels. BTW, I do not believe you will find one mark on any wheel, and it has a nearly new (a few hundred mile) set of Michelin PS4 tires on all 4 corners (that"s about another $1000 you don"t have to spend, road force balanced and nitrogen filled)
Speaking of tires, my friend that owned the car was super fastidious about suspension components. This car has the slightly shorter ROW spring set, with #2 buffers, so she looks so much better but still rides super smooth. Check out these other new or recently replaced parts on the suspension:
New motor mounts, new strut mounts; New steering damper new tie rod ends; New sway bar bushings; New L and R control arms New front rotors and pads, new rear pads; New Bilstein struts front, shocks rear, and fresh brake fluid flush and alignment too. I also installed a new hood pad (the other one was failing) and did a fresh fluids service as well. New serpentine belt too (aged). This is several THOUSAND dollars worth of work that you DON"T have to worry about. Do you see the other listings anywhere that have all this done? Me either.
I also have TWO of the master key/remote fobs that work (do you know that Mercedes no longer has these available? When they went away they were selling for over $300 each), The pouch and books- The correct black MB mats with "SL " logo, cleaned and wrapped in plastic- The air/wind deflector for the roll bar, in the proper case, and a clean Carfax report and MB Master inquiry. I will also include a nice car cover and a NEW hardtop rack in the box for you.
So what"s NOT perfect? Well, frankly not much. The hardtop is in excellent shape. but somewhere along the line, a previous owner re-did the liner with a non-factory material. (Not a big deal, because your probably never going to have it on.) Softop works perfectly, we have tested it, no leaky hydrolocks, I believe it"s original, and the plastic windows are just barely yellowing. That is about it.
I am 38 years in business and play by the Golden Rule, I can help with travel and shipping, and will do my best to make your experience fun. Check out my Ebay feedback and Google reviews. Just south of Atlanta Hartsfield airport. 40+ year second generation Benz geek, Concours Judge and participant. If you just want "a Mercedes convertible", you should keep looking. But if you want a special car, with fabulous miles in the right colors, from an honest and knowledgeable seller, congrats, you can stop looking now! Thanks again, glad to answer any question or provide more info. . .
