We bought this model "99 Jeep in dec. ‘98 in NYC, kept and maintained it there until we moved 80 miles north into the Hudson Valley. Coming from Europe I insisted our Jeep would have to have a manual transmission, as I believe any Jeep should have. Until now our friend Steve has taken care of the car, oil changes, brakes etc. The most dramatic thing ever done to it was removing the compressor, it locked up. So currently the AC does not cool, it heats just fine. I have records of much of the cars history, some going back to ‘00. The mileage is just over 80K miles. It never was in an accident and it runs beautifully. Up till now, I have not yet needed to change a single lightbulb. Before the car was delivered to us in 1998, the underside of the car was given an extra protective coating. Nevertheless, after all these years, there is some rust but according to Steve nothing that a little love can’t fix. We discussed painting it but decided against it. What you see is what you get. And one more thing. . recently the fabric headliner has come loose from the ceiling. Not an urgent problem yet but it will need some attention.
