Up for sale is my 1999 H1. This vehicle was owned in MT and WY before I relocated it to OR in late 2012, so no east coast rust / road salt issues. I purchased the truck stock at around 85,XXX miles and made all of the high value adds so it’s ready to roll for summer. For those of you new to the H1 game, the typical story is to buy a truck that has not been maintained and has much of the original wear gear still intact. So after plunking down your dough, you then get to spend the next several months maintaining or improving all of the deferred maintenance that did not get addressed by the prior owner. I keep the truck maintained to make it reliable and trail ready. I started by rebuilding the entire suspension (bushings, mounts, shocks, springs, halfshafts, input / output seals, centerlink, idler and pittman), new brake rotors and calipers all around, removing the cooling stack to clean the radiator and replace all belts and hoses, adding a new tensioner, replacing the alternator, ABS modulator and rebuilding the transfer case. Then I added the off-road goodies, including rhino spare tire carrier, front and rear rubberduck roll bars and an alpha brushguard, a mile marker waterproof electric winch (which is better than the stock version as it doesn’t compromise approach angle) and hummerdan skid guards. Upgraded the rolling stock to H1 Alpha Hutchinson 17” 2 piece wheels, including the spare, and a brand new (90%+) set of Toyo mud tires. I added LED lighting everywhere – replaced the headlights with Trucklite LEDs, put led marker and signal lights all around. Redid the dash gauges and indicator lights on the interior. I put new heated front windshields in for clear visibility – these run $1100 each (x2!). Spruced up the interior with wet okole seat guards, removed the CD changer and added a CB radio with Wilson antenna, replaced the interior switches and bezels around the doors with new LED door locks and window actuators so visible at night, added aluminum shifter and parking brake housings and a powdercoated aluminum center rack. Now for the negatives: Really there are none, other than the truck has been driven offroad in Oregon, so there are brush scratches. The paint is not perfect. If you’re looking for a show truck, this isn’t the one. But if you want a reliable, maintained and off-road ready beast, this truck is worth a look.
