Up for auction is this very nice 1998 Saab 900Se Turbo convertible. This always in California car is in far superior condition to other models of it"s same year. It would appear that this vehicle was garaged for most of it"s life as the paint, leather seats and interior wood all are far above average in terms of preservedness. The paint, which was recently waxed, shines and still looks very presentable. There are the usual rock chips on the hood, and most noticeable, a dent on the trunk and again on the front passenger side fender where the previous owner had 2 small collisions with an unforgiving parking garage metal pole. Despite these blemishes, the car still looks great. The top, which I believe is original is free of rips or tears. The power function DOES work. The only hiccup to the fully automatic procedure of lowering or raising the top is that the rear tonneau cover no longer has the ability to raise itself 100%, and has to be lifted the remaining 10% by hand to clear the top from it"s path. After that, the top functions exactly as intended. The interior is in remarkable shape with the leather having no flaws at all! It truthfully looks like the car is 2 or 3 years old, not 20! The wood is in very fine shape and the dash is crack free. Even the wood gear shifter looks great! All gauges, including the clock, work The heat is hot and the a/c is cold. The engine runs very strong and the turbo is quick to give this car speed away power. Good brakes and tires as well. The 900 SE turbo was the top of the line in 1998 with a sticker back then of $42,000. The reserve here is is truly a small fraction of that price. The car has never given me any of the problems I have read are common with Saab"s and in fact, the only thing I have done in a year"s worth of ownership is to replace the starter, which has less than 2000 miles on it.
