1998 740Il e38 orient. blue w. black interior that has been 6 speed swapped. Whole car gone through. enthusiast owned. Only 20k miles on the swap. 210k miles on the car, but the motor was swapped (guides failed) with one that had 85k when the 6 speed swap was done and the guides and all gaskets were done then as well. So motor has around 105k now but guides and such only 20k. The interior was originally tan, it was professionally swapped out for black. You can not tell it was swapped in any way. New cooling system a few years ago when swap was done as well as $1000 BC coil overs. It has a $500 DUDMD tune and the cats were gutted as well as the rear mufflers deleted and tail pipes were added. Sounds great. I will include the original exhaust under the rear bumper that were removed if you want them. Also has 2001 color matched bumpers, 2001 taillights and 2001 sport seats, 2001 sport 3.15 differential. 750IL rear leather door panels/wood ashtrays, rear leather bottom seat backs and dome light. 750Il headlights. New battery, hood latches, AC fan, air filter, cabin filters, oil change, 20% tint professionally done, LED interior/plate lights, front plate delete, recently replaced a failing actuator and door handle, some trim pieces here and there, trunk struts, windshield, w/s cowl, w/s wipers, few new tires, aftermarket radio with subwoofer/amp hook ups in trunk. Car is ready for your sub/amp. It has carbon fiber wrapped interior wood, if you don"t like it, it can be peeled off. I personally like it. Also have a complete sport wood set if interested/preferred. Has one key, original owners manual booklet and first aid kit. I have a 750IL leather dash for this car that cab be included, possibly installed.
I wouldn"t be selling it, but have two other 6 speed e38s and too many cars on my property, I don"t wanna store this car for the winter. Enthusiast owned. you can trust who you"re buying it from. Clean title. Clean car, it was regularly taken to car shows. No leaks. No rust.
The interior is mint with the exception of the failing headliner in rear. I have a black suede IL headliner I can throw in for $100. Everything works and it"s clean as can be. The body is good, shines up nice, but some bruises. Has original black door bottom trims. NO rust. Dent on hood, dent on bottom of right front door (I have another color matching door if u want it, but its not bad), small hairline crack in front bumper on bottom left-you can"t notice it-small hairline crack on rear left bottom of bumper. See pictures.
* Couple things worth noting are: I removed the heated wheel because it was in terrible shape and took away from the car/interior, so if you want the horn to work you"ll need to put the old wheel back on. OR I have a MINT heated wheel out of a 1998 750IL that I can throw in. the wheel I replaced the original one with is in perfect shape, but it is from a 2000 so the airbag and slipring and such from the "98 wheel won"t work with the 2000 wheel. Also the telescoping wheel doesn"t work. The tamper dot on cluster is on. previous owner swapped out the original cluster for one from a manual e39 540i from Germany because he thought that was necessary for the swap. Miles are right, but just letting you know it"s on. You can send the cluster, DME, and EWS to a guy on Bimmerforums and he can code them and get rid of the tamper dot or you can do it yourself if you have all the bmw software. Also occasionally reads "check rear foglights" since it is from Germany. I will include another cluster in the sale for you to use to be coded with the cars DME and EWS if you ever decide to do that to get rid of the tamper dot. -Fan shroud has a couple cracks, I have another one. -Car stops on a dime but I"d do brake rotors and pads soon. -Headliner and pillars were done in black a while back, but headliner is starting to fail again. it can be re glued in the back where its sagging but again I have a nice black suede one I can include. possibly install. That"s it, no surprises! Drive it home or ship it! Car is located at my bothers house in MA.
