Vehicle description
This is a 1997 D90 Wagon with A/C. This is a Japanese spec truck. At around 48,000 miles, this truck was sent to East Coast Rover in Maine for a complete restoration. ECR is known as the top Defender shop in the USA. Approximately $ 113,000 was spent doing this work at ECR. ECR does not consider this a 100% full restoration because they serviced the original motor as opposed to starting with a new crate motor which they would do in a 100% resto. Most of the truck was repainted at this time but not 100% of it, one or two panels did not need to be repainted. During this ECR service a galvanized frame was installed to prevent any future rust, as well as a galvanized bulkhead. The work done at this time was quite extensive making this Defender better than new. All the galvanized and stainless steel parts added during this resto means this truck can be used all year or used at the beach without the same concerns of rust as a stock D90. The work ensures many many years of enjoyment. Also during this resto the small difference between US and Japanese spec were changed to US spec.
Then in early 2017 the truck had another $10,000 of work done at ECR including build and installation of their custom roof rack. In total only about 14,000 miles or so have been put on this truck since the $125,000 worth of work was completed by ECR. I believe current wait times for a resto project of this size at ECR is around a 2-3 year wait.
Photos of the ECR invoices will list all the work completed and included in my photo gallery. A recent service in Dec 2017 was also completed in preparation for sale.
This truck is part of a large collection of rare Defenders, G wagons and Landcruisers and I am downsizing the collection.
