Vehicle description
I"ve had this truck for over 7 years. I bought it to pull a boat that I sold about a year ago. The only reason that I am selling it is that I just don"t use it much. I"ve only put about 2000 miles on it this year and most of that was in one weekend. I went to bend oregon to pick up a car. I would drive it anywhere, I am a firm believer in preventative maintenance, and because of that I have never had a problem with it.
It has always been a Montana truck so there is no rust. The paint is peeling on the hood and roof like many of the dodges from the late 90"s. It does have a few minor dings in it. The interior is in really good shape, except for the outer side of the driver seat as seen in the picture. That is also a common problem on these trucks. It also has the pillar gauges for boost, tranny temp, and egt.
I bought the truck with 250k on it 7.5 years ago and now it has 283k on it. Here is what I have done to it and what was done right before I bought it. The guy I bought it from rebuilt the tranny, installed the gauges, replaced the front bearings and brakes right before he sold it to me. After he did all that he found a 5 speed that he wanted so he sold it to me.
As I mentioned before I believe in preventative maintenance. As soon as I got it I took it in and had the lift pump replaced, valves adjusted, and the dowel pin issue corrected.
The only modification that has been done to this engine is that the injectors have been replaced, the original fuel plate has been slid forward and the waste gate has been blocked off. Also when the tranny was replaced they put in an aftermarket torque converter.
Since I"ve had it I have replaced most of the front end parts, including the steering gear box. I think the only thing that I didn"t replace is the ball joints. They didn"t need it, they are greasable so they last a long time. I took out the radiator and had it tanked, and replaced the hoses, including the bypass hose which is hard to get to. I replaced both batteries, not at the same time though, one is a year older than the other one. Last year I put new 265 75 16 cooper tires on it, and like I said I haven"t put many miles on it since so they are like new. I"m sure I"ve done other things to it and can"t remember right now. I have receipts for some of the things done but I"ve moved twice since I"ve had it so I haven"t found them all yet, but I do have them. It"s a great truck and I hate to see it go but I just don"t use it enough to justify keeping it.
The only quirky thing it does is sometimes when you get off the highway the tranny doesn"t downshift and you have to manually do it. It has done it since I"ve had it. The tranny shop that did the rebuild said it should stop doing it when it breaks it. It has been doing it less and less, but is does still do it sometimes.
email me and I will answer any questions you have, ask all questions before you bid. Buyer is responsible for shipping or pick up. A $500 non refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end and the rest is due at pickup or before it is shipped. I will take a cashiers check or even a personal check, both of which will have to clear the bank before the truck moves.
