Vehicle description
1997 Chevy (Chevrolet) Camaro Convertible, Red.
69,000 miles. I am the second owner, purchased about 3 years ago. Car at that time had 39000 miles. Original Title in hand.
Engine - 3.8L V6. Original Motor, Purrs like a kitten.
Transmission - T5 5-speed Manual, with a B&M short shifter installed. Much better than the original sloppy shifter.
Maintenance -
New Window Motor for Driver"s Side replaced a few weeks ago.
Recently replaced front brake rotors and pads, have about 3000 miles on them.
Battery, Brake Lines for Rear Axle and the front-rear line from the ABS module replaced at 62000 miles.
Rebuilt the Convertible Top Pump and adjusted the frame at 61000.
New Starter at 60000 miles.
Water Pump, Thermostat, Belt Tensioner all replaced around 55000 miles.
Spark Plugs and Wires, O2 sensors, Oil Pan Gasket, Rear Main Seal, Transmission seals, Clutch Kit and Clutch Slave Cylinder replaced at 48000.
Tires at 40000. Yokohama, very good traction. They have about 40-50% tread left.
Oil changed with Synthetic blend every 4000 miles.
Upgrades -
Pacesetter Ceramic Coated Headers replace the stock exhaust manifolds. Spark plug changes are now a 5-minute job.
Post-catalytic converter exhaust replaced with Borla Stainless Steel Exhaust and Muffler at 62000 miles. No rusting, and the car has a nice deep rumble to it. A lot of show, and a decent amount of go.
Digital Media Player replaced the stock radio, with bluetooth and phone connection. I listen to all my music using a USB drive or my phone.
The good -
Interior is in very nice shape for a 20 year old car. No rips, stains or tears in the seats, foam is all still there. All the knobs and electrical, etc work and don"t look faded.
Convertible top is in decent shape. Should last for years to come. No sagging in the headliner, rear defroster works perfect.
The car runs like a top. Starts up every morning, no issues at all.
Inspected this past April, good until 2019.
No rust on the body, no major damage anywhere on the car.
The bad -
A/C doesn"t work. I drove it mostly with the top down, so this has never been a problem for me. There"s no refrigerant in the system. Never got around to fixing it because I"ve never had a problem without it.
Surface rust underneath the car. I"ve cleaned it up and repainted it with primer, but its there. Nothing major.
There are (mostly) light scratches and little dings and dents most everywhere on the car. It must have been in the original owner"s garage or somewhere with stuff all over it for a while. A couple of small dents in the hood. A small crack in the rear bumper, some dings on the fenders. A spot on the side of the rear bumper that was repainted at some point (you can tell if you look hard enough). This car is a 25 foot car. Looks great from there, and in the rain, really doesn"t look bad every day, but it ain"t a show car.
This car has been my spare transportation for the last couple years, I"ve used it in the summer and stored it during the winter, and taken it when I"ve needed to. I drive a lot for work and have taken it on 300 mile trips in one day. I trust this car to go anywhere and everywhere. I just took a new job with a longer commute, and I want to keep more miles off my primary truck so I"m looking for something that is a little more convenient for me and to load up my 4-year old in the backseat. Other than that, I hate to part with it.
