Vehicle description
Please read this listing in its entirety as I’ve included a lot of information. If you are looking for a cream puff car that you can take long trips with it then this is not the car for you. If, however, you are either looking for a solid commuter vehicle or parts vehicle then read on. I am only the 2 nd owner of this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle as a project car for my son and I but unfortunately some things have come up so I neither have the time nor money right now. The original owner of this vehicle was a 94 year old woman. She bought the vehicle new in December of 1992. She drove this vehicle until she went into a nursing home in 2014. In 22 years she only put 81K miles on this car and, as you can see from the history, it was taken religiously to the dealership for maintenance. The car has sat in the driveway of her house from 2014 until I purchased the car this month. During this time a relative would come by and start the car. The only time it was driven though was in October of 2016 when it went to a mechanic for a new battery. Because the car sat for over 2 years it does need some TLC. Below is as accurate of a description as I could provide outlining the good and the bad of this vehicle. I am NOT a mechanic. I feel the starting price of this auction is fair for what you are getting. You are buying this vehicle as is with no guarantees, warranties, or refunds. Bidding acknowledges that you understand this and that you realize this is a 24 year old car NOT a new car. You will eventually have to invest money in this car if you don’t part it out or if you decide to make it more than just a commuter car. A minimum of $500 down is due within 48 hours of the auction ending with balance due within one week. The vehicle will NOT be released until paid in full. You are responsible for either transporting the vehicle or picking it up. The title is due in this week from the state but if it is delayed I will FedEx it to you should the car go first. Please ask any questions you have. GOOD · The car starts and runs STRONG with a smooth shifting transmission. I actually just had an oil change and the mechanic confirmed there is a lot of life left in the engine and transmission. · The A/C blows ice cold; the original AM/FM stereo works; and even the automatic seat belts work (except for the driver seat belt which occasionally sticks but in all honesty it works 90% of the time)! · The interior, as you can see in the pictures, is very clean. No one has ever smoked in this vehicle and there were never any pets. Even the spare tire looks new! · The tires; battery; and entire exhaust system from engine to muffler (including CAT and flex pipe) were replaced in the past 3 years with less than 5,000 miles on them…look the stickers haven’t burned off the exhaust pipe yet! That is over $2K in recent maintenance – very hard to find on a vehicle this age. BAD · The body is rough. The paint and clear coat are faded and peeling. The right front corner is dented with a cracked turn signal; there is a crease down the left side; there is a dent on the left quarter panel; and the right corner of the rear bumper is cracked – all from pulling in and out of the garage (there are other small dents and dings as would be expected from an elderly owned 24 year old vehicle). There is rust throughout especially the undercarriage – this vehicle has been driven in Chicago for 24 years · Sitting for over 2 years without being driven has wreaked havoc on the seals. There is oil seepage; a leaking transmission oil pan seal; and both CV boots have split open. · Occasionally there is a rough idle. I suspect the vehicle could use a tune up and new fuel filter. · The brakes stop really well but the front pads are low. There are, however, some new brake lines. · The liftgate struts are rusted and inoperative so the liftgate no longer stays up.
