Vehicle description
For sale is my 1992 Mercedes 400E. For those that aren"t familiar with this car, it is the little brother to the legendary 500E. Both the 400E and 500E were touched by the hands of Porsche when they shoehorned the powerful M119 V8 into the legendary W124 chassis. This is a truly wonderful car, fitted with the 4.2L V8, and is very fast and tons of fun to drive. Unfortunately I just don"t have space for this great car anymore. This 400E is all original with original paint, interior and mechanicals. The paint has seen better days and has lost most of the clear coat, but has never been touched up or repaired anywhere. The 400E has spent almost all of its life in Florida is almost entirely rust free with the exception of one very small spot below the antena. The frame, suspension, and other underbody components are 100% rust free.
Recent work includes:
-Spark plug wires
-Lower wiring harness
-New fuel line from tank to pump
-New fuel pump relay (old one was clicking loudly)
-New rubber supports for fuel pump carrier assembly
-Both rear window regulators replaced (new)
-New coolant temp sensors (all 3)
-Synthetic oil change at 123,300 miles and windshield wiper
-Replaced headlight wiper motors
-New rubber mirror covers
-New steering center link and steering damper
The bad. .
-Radio turns on but shows an "E2" error
-The A/C blows warm (started a few weeks ago. Got progressively less cool and is just warm now)
-Has a small power steering leak. My mechanic said it is likely a hose that meets at the pump
The 400E is becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in original condition such as this, and will suit both the collector and daily driver alike. Mileage may increase slightly as we still enjoy driving this car. Asking $9500 O.B.O. Low ballers will be ignored. Please message me if you have any question or wish to check out the car if you are semi local.
