Vehicle description
The time has finally come for me to part with my 1991 MR2 Turbo. I’ve owned this car for 3+ years and have put about 30,000 miles on it. It now has 107xxx miles on it (note: mileage will increase a bit, as I still drive the car occasionally). I"m only selling because I need something with more doors/space.
This is a “Sun Belt” car, originally purchased in Florida, followed by some years in Nevada before coming to Southern California. It is rust-free and, as far as I know, has always been garaged. I have never tracked/raced it (nor did the previous owners, judging by their personalities and the car’s condition). Like all 1990s turbo Japanese cars, these MR2s are steadily increasing in value and promise only further appreciate in the years to come.
This car"s original 3S-GTE engine remains completely stock and pulls hard. There is a small leak at the turbo inlet seal but this does not effect performance, with the turbo still coming on strong. This car has been my daily driver for 3 years and has been totally reliable, never once leaving me stranded. I have taken it on several 1000+ road trips and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere in the US right now. The next owner, however, will probably take this opportunity to upgrade the turbo unit, which will both fix that leak and improve performance. The valve cover gasket is due for replacement as well.
In addition to all regularly-scheduled maintenance, other items added/repaired during my ownership include: timing belt; new radiator; alternator; adjustable shocks; bushings; Eibach lowering springs; Enkei RPF1 wheels (still like-new condition); new battery a few months ago.
The original owner’s manual and all service receipts in my possession will be included with the car. The car also features an aftermarket alarm (a very sensitive and effective alarm, I might add) with two keyless remotes.
This is a largely-unmolested, 26 year-old car but it’s not perfect. The body is straight and rust-free but it has a few nicks, especially around the front from rock chips. The front bumper clip appears to have been resprayed at some point. Overall, the body is a solid 7.5-8/10. I rarely stop for gas or come out of the supermarket without someone complimenting the car and its clean, original condition.
The leather interior is clean and free of rips, though the shift boot has a couple small holes. The power windows, door locks, etc, all work perfectly. The sunroof (which retains its factory cover) does not leak. The A/C blows strong and cold. The factory stereo was replaced prior to my ownership and the car now has an aftermarket JVC unit.
Car is located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles. I can help arrange shipping anywhere in the USA at buyer’s expense.
