Vehicle description
This 1991 Land Rover Defender 90 200 Tdi has just arrived in the Port of Baltimore. I am going to pick it up on 26 May and register it. I am putting this auction up as a pre-buying option for folks interested in getting a great Defender 90 before the price goes up.
I have owned the truck since 2010 and used it as my daily driver in Germany. It gets about 28 mpg and runs easily on the highway at 70 mph. I had regular maintenance done since I"ve owned it and have all the records. It"s a great vehicle with zero mechanical problems. These 200 Tdi motors will go for 500,000 miles if you take care of them. I also added Old Man Emu heavy duty springs and shocks in 2011.
I refurbished the interior in 2011, adding sound/weather insulation on the floors, doors, and roof. I installed a LaSalle Trim interior hard plastic headliner, new rear jump seats, dog guard, rubber floors, and aluminum storage box. The truck has new tires, wheels, and front bumper. I also installed a M.U.D. radio fascia and a Pioneer touch-screen Radio/CD/DVD/USB stereo with overhead and under-dash speakers. There"s also a new center console.
The exterior was my next project. There is a small dent in the front right fender/wing where my brother thought he could make a turn and pushed into a fence. It"s a small detail, but needs repair. There is some oxidation and rust in the normal spots, including the exterior window fasteners and door frames. There is some surface rust on the chassis and one small 3/4" rusted spot at the rear where the chassis connects to the rear bumper. Otherwise, the truck is in remarkable shape and just needs fresh paint.
If the truck doesn"t sell in this auction, I am going to make the repairs to the exterior and paint it. This will increase the price considerably, as Defender 90 Tdi trucks are selling at $35-$45k these days. If you get in on this truck now, you can do whatever you want to it and save a ton of money.
Pick up only, unless you want to arrange your own vehicle shipping after the auction. I will have the title in hand by the first of June once I"ve registered it here in the U.S.
Feel free to ask questions. This is the fifth Land Rover Defender/Series truck I"ve owned and I know a little bit about them. I"m a U.S. Marine getting ready to deploy and I"m reducing the stuff I own- including this Land Rover and my Volvo XC90, which will appear in a separate auction.
Thanks!
Note: eBay will not accept the vehicle"s VIN (probably because I haven"t registered it yet), so I"ve used the VIN from a Land Rover Discovery I used to own. The actual VIN for this vehicle is SALLDVAF8HA477896.
