Vehicle description
For sale by owner: this relatively low-mileage, right-hand drive 1989 Land Rover 110 is located in Annapolis, MD. This specific vehicle saw service in the British Royal Air Force from 1990-1999 (paperwork will be provided to the new owner) and it maintains some of its markings.
Basic specifications:
- European VIN not recognized by Ebay: SALLDHMV7FA422XXX - original 3.5L v8 (gas) engine
- 89650 miles
- 5 speed mated to Santana M80 heavy duty gearbox, low and high ratio gearing with diff lock in both
- 5 door, 6 seat Country Station Wagon
- Full length galvanised roof rack
- Body mounted spare wheel carrier
- Rust free chassis with rust treatment applied after replacing rear crossmember, rear floor crossmember, and both bulkhead outriggers
- newly fitted ExMoor seats
I personally imported this vehicle in May 2017, and it is legally titled and registered in Florida. I recommend researching insurance and registration in your state prior to purchasing.
This has been my daily driver around Annapolis for the past few months, and we made several trips this summer to Oxford (50 miles) and back at highway speeds. The vehicle runs very well.
This is by no means a show vehicle. There is some surface rust in the typical defender spots, but all the major structural issues have been corrected. If you have not owned a Defender before, I will introduce you to some of the typical quirks when you inspect the vehicle. This includes slamming doors and a few leaks in the rain. If you choose to repaint the vehicle, the roof seals should be renewed. The only mechanical issue I have found is downshifting from overdrive to 4th, the gear grinds. You can run in 4th gear up past 50 mph, so I"ve just downshifted to 3rd from overdrive when slowing down. Otherwise the transmission is incredibly smooth.
