1989 Chevrolet C1500 Scottsdale Resto-mod
What exactly is a resto-mod? Well according to industry norms: A resto-mod is a classic vehicle that has been restored, but modified with modern parts and technology . Aesthetically, the vehicle looks the same until you look under the hood or reach for the radio. Further, many owners will upgrade the engines on a classic car so as to enhance performance and increase fuel efficiency.- Bills Backyard Classics
First the truck was partially disassembled; bumpers, bed, doors, hood and rear glass were removed. All body imperfections were corrected and a coat of modern GM "Victory Red"(WA9260) base/clear urethane paint was applied. This truck has a clean South Carolina title and was a clean, rust free,straight bodied example to perform a resto-mod.
Mechanically the old power plant which was a sad old 5.0 V8 with 4 speed manual was removed and replaced with a 2004 Aluminum block 5.3 LS engine. An electronic (4L60E) transmission was mated to the engine and placed in the engine bay where it sits very comfortably.
Mechanical Engine cleaned and inspected. Common gaskets replaced; oil pan, Intake, Valve cover. Factory harness with ECM was incorporated and runs the powerplant. (Any GM dealership or mechanic shop can service this truck.) New radiator with VDO high speed dual electric fans. New waterpump, alternator, tensioner, steering pump, belt & hoses. Powdercoated Chevrolet Orange Pan and Valve covers. Custom air intake w/filter and New MAF sensor. Transmission completely overhauled, New steels and clutches, hardened sun shell, bushings / seals, shift kit, Corvette servo, torque convertor, deep pan. Can be retro-fitted for Air-conditioning using the factory configuration. Drive shaft rebalanced with new U joints. Chassis New front and rear brakes, brakes hoses. Shocks and swaybar bushings. Gas tank cleaned and inspected new sender and high pressure (Fuel injection) pump installed.
