Vehicle description
Up for auction is a beautiful 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with less than 52,000 original miles. The car is Medium Red with a scarlet red interior. Options include a 2.3 Liter Turbo Charged 4 cylinder Engine, 4 speed automatic with overdrive, power sunroof, cruise control, tilt wheel, power drivers seat and an aftermarket Kenwood Stereo with AM/FM/CD and MP3 .
The check engine light is on, however, the engine runs fine otherwise (starts up on the first try, idles smoothly, no black smoke at the exhaust pipe, overall the engine runs as what is expected from a car with 50,000 miles). The transmission shifts smooth and the car drives real nice. The turbo makes about 9 lbs of boost.
The programmed ride control suspension has been replaced with an after market non-adjustable KYB Shocks, Struts and Axle dampeners at 50,000 miles. All of the options on the car still work with the exception of the following: 1.) Adjustable suspension (since KYB suspension is non-adjustable) and 2.) Due to compatibility issues, the Graphic Equalizer is not hooked up to the Kenwood Stereo. The original factory AM/FM Cassette Stereo comes with the car but it does not work according to the original owner of the car. For exterior condition, I would rate it a 7 out of 10. The car is rust-free and the paint has a really nice shine to it with no oxidation. Chips and scratches as well as some loose exterior molding keep it from being a 10 out of 10.
For interior condition, I would rate it an 8 out of 10. The seats and the carpet are in excellent condition. The dash board has no cracks and the headliner is in excellent condition. The bottom side of the door arm pads need to be re-glued and the back seat headrests are sun faded which keep it from being a 10 out of 10.
