Great Looking 1987 560SL Roadster. I bought this car with the express purpose to reassemble the engine and drive it. Unfortunately time constraints have put a damper on my ability to get that done. I purchased the car with the engine mostly torn down to the lower block. It turns over freely and the block is in great shape. 110,000 miles on a Mercedes is low for these cars. All of the parts to reassemble the engine are there. Most are marked in bags with bolts, clamps, hoses, etc. The engine issue was the driver side timing chain guide snap (a very common issue with these cars). There are three upper and two lower guides for the timing chain. I did not want to only replace the upper guides, and thus my dilemma. In order to replace the lower guides, the timing case needs to come off, which requires the engine to come out OR the sub frame has to be removed. I just don"t have the time or the space for it.
I had already had the cams polished and a number of the other parts cleaned.
For someone with the space this would be an easy build to have a great car. . OR there are literally thousands of dollars of parts here already removed. I"m told the hardtop alone is worth $1000. .
I am selling the car as-is where-is. Must bring a dolly or trailer since it"s not running.
I will also include a digital service manual for the entire car with the sale via email.
