Vehicle description
* * * This is the last time I will be relisting this. If not sold the car will be donated. Thanks. Up for sale: 1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z w/T-tops
My apologies in advanced for this lengthy description here but t his was a 6 year restoration project that is now 95% complete. Paint in good condition. There are a few minor dings on the front drivers fender and rear drivers quarter. Engine and transmission were completely rebuilt by local professional machine shop. Runs great drives great. It will need an alignment and tires on the front soon. Drivers front tire has slow leak. 17" Wheels.
Engine: 2.2 TII bored over to 1.00 mm. Custom mounted intercooler and piping. Larger A/R .48 Turbo. Slightly ported cylinder head. Ported two piece intake and custom exhaust manifold. Slight leak in power steering reservoir. Slight leak in radiator(a drop here and there after driving for a half hour or so). Other than that motor very strong. Only about 5 thousand miles on rebuild. Newer A/C lines and recharged and converted to R134a freon. The compressor may need a clutch bearing, it squeals from time to time when turning on. Blows somewhat cool but probably needs recharged. *Update* I can put a new compressor in before the car ships if it sells. All new silicone vacuum lines with a vacuum block distribution. New fuel injectors. New fuel pressure regulator. All sensors is new. Distributor new cap and rotor new.
Transmission: A555 Five speed. Rebuilt the same time as the engine by TurboDodge.com. Has an added chrome-moly bearing support plate for better functionality. All gears shift in and out very easily.
Interior: In great shape, however, the front seats are not original to the car. They are from a 1994 dodge stealth and are not powered. This is the way I received the car and couldn"t find a set of original to reupholster. Carpets have no stains. Back seats are original and have no tears. Headliner has been reupholstered. New speakers all around. Bluetooth radio. T-tops do not leak and have original storage bags! Power windows work but are stiff going back to the up position. Side mirrors are powered but drivers side has only the up and down function working and passenger side has only the left and right function working. Power locks work. All gauges work. Overall in good shape.
Exterior: Paint shines and mirrors like glass. Professionally painted by local body shop 5 years ago. Paint matches paint code numbers under the hood to original color. Minor rust hole in rear of car under carpet by spare tire well. This is one of the things I didn"t get to yet. Minor ding in drivers front fender and small door dings in drivers rear quarter. Of course over the years of sitting in my garage paint has developed light scratches on hood from stuff being stacked on it. These can be easily be buffed by a body shop or polishing compound. Overall the car is in great condition for 30 years old. Headlights changed to projection lenses with LED headlights and motor up and down with normal function.
The reason I am parting with this project of mine is due to a recent diagnosis of an illness of my daughter and since time is of the essence I want to make the most of it with her. I have the original sales receipt documentation, build sheet, owners manual and a file with most of the receipts from the engine parts and other miscellaneous items. Clean and clear Colorado title in hand!
Please, please, feel free to ask any questions for I may have overlooked a certain detail. Car is for sale locally and reserve the right to end the sale early. Thank you for looking.
