Vehicle description
For sale is my 1986 Porsche 944 with the 2.5 litre naturally aspirated inline 4 and 5 speed manual transmission. The car is in mechanically good condition with mostly just cosmetic issues to deal with. I daily it at least a few times a week and dont have a problem with it. All the electronics work, i.e. windows, sunroof, radio, cruise control, variable speed windshield wiper switch, rear window defroster. Since I’ve owned it I have replaced the wheels, changed the oil and filter, tires, brake pads, brake pad wear sensors (which work correctly), engine mounts, all the belts, both CV axles, rear hatch seal, rear hatch shocks, and DME cylinder head temperature sensor. I am continuing to do a bit here and there so I might be adding a few more items to the list. The tires are less than 2 months old and have only a few hundred miles on them. Interior is in great shape. The wiring under the dash looks great. Doesn"t look as if anyone has messed with it, just a bit dusty but still has all of the factory wrap and is clean.
Now the “bad” about the car. Has a few small dash cracks, shift knob fabric is torn, and gauge cluster has some odd fading. The crankshaft positioning sensor probably needs to be replaced. Sometimes the car won’t start but if you wiggle the sensor connector between the cam tower and firewall it starts right up. The rear hatch needs to be looked at, does not appear to leak (parks outside) as I haven’t found water inside the car but the glass and trim could stand to be redone. I had the AC looked at to see if it worked. It currently does not but the system is good. Mechanic said the compressor is bad and that along with the dryer and expansion valve need to be replaced. After that he said just a charge and it will be just fine. The engine was running very rich before I changed the DME temperature sensor. It runs and idles a lot better but could still do with a tune up. Still seems to be running just a bit rich. I will be checking the spark plugs and maybe replacing them. The biggest issue I see with the car is the paint, the clear coat is coming off in a lot of places and there are a few dents in the body as shown in the pictures.
Over all the car is solid but could use some TLC. If you have any questions just ask and I’d be more than happy to answer.
