Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 1986 Pontiac Firebird. It has a 305 and an automatic transmission. The car is a little rough, but it runs, drives, and stops like it should. It is an H code car, which means it has a computer controlled carburetor, not TPI. It has T tops, and they do go in and out like they should. It has aftermarket mufflers and sounds mean! The top end of the engine is fairly new, it has crane cam rocker arms and poly-locks, and the valve lash was just set a few hundred miles ago with no problems since. Also has very tall valve covers for enough clearance. It has a new alternator and pulley, battery and cables, fan belt, electric fan motor, upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat, fuel pump, and filter in the carb, as well as tires with maybe 50 miles on them and other odds and ends I"m forgetting. The electric fan is wired to a switch, but otherwise works like it should. The exterior of the car is mostly rust free, which is getting hard to find in these third gen F bodies. Otherwise, it is a little beat up. The paint isn"t the best, and it is peeling in a few spots. It does have its fair share of dents and dings. The deck lid is also in rough shape. The interior is also rough. It needs a good cleaning, the seats are ripped, the dash is cracked in one spot, but it"s all there. The passenger side window doesn"t really go down, but that"s an easy fix. It"s by no means a show car or a race car, but it"s a good running easy little project you can drive while you work on it. Doesn"t need anything major, it runs and drives and stops like it should. I did change the oil and spark plugs a few miles ago. The engine bay is pretty messy with a lot of vacuum lines and hoses and emissions stuff, but if you took the time to clean it up it would look really nice. The CEL is on, but if your familiar with OBDI all that means is that there is an emissions problem. I did take off a good amount of the emissions stuff, but did keep it if you wanted it for some reason. It is old enough so you do not need to go to inspection, and still get regular plates. No QQ plates and dumb restrictions. I"ve spent a lot of time and money over the past few months working on the car and getting it to the point where it runs and drives good, but I work too much to really have the time to finish it the way I want and I"ve kind of lost interest. It is a little rough, but it could be a cool driver with a little elbow grease. It doesn"t need anything major, just little things. I drive the car a few times a week locally and it gets tons of attention, I just don"t have the time to do the car justice and make it the perfect car I really want. For the price you won"t find a running and driving third gen F body with a rust free body anywhere in the northeast. If i had the time i"d finish it the way I wanted, but unfortunately I don"t so that"s why its for sale. The car is located in central new jersey about 15 minutes off of exit 11 on 78, and its very easy to get to with a trailer.
