Vehicle description
This 1986 Pontiac Fiero comes to us from a customer who’s husband owns a 1965 MGB that we work on. She has asked us to present her Fiero on Ebay for sale as she is finally ready to give the car up. This car was the first she ever bought but she has realized as she looks at retirement that there will not be room in her life anymore for her beloved little car. The Fiero was purchased new in Washington DC. It was only used on weekends in nice weather as the owner took the Metro to work every day. Shortly thereafter, the owner and her car moved to Athens, Georgia where the car has been ever since (There was a short period when the car was sent to Washington State to live with the owner’s brother likely due to the owner not having a place to keep it at the time). The interior is fairly presentable and the car has never been smoked in. The exterior is straight, but as you can see from the pictures, it is ready for a paint job. The underside of the car (as you can see in the pictures) looks great. We went through the car and a few things to bring the car back to life after it’s not having been used for several years. They include the following: Checked engine compression (Good) Change fuel filter Fill with fresh non-Ethanol fuel Change oil and filter Change spark plugs and spark plug wires, clean distributor cap Fill gearbox with gear oil The car starts and runs well and the gearbox shifts well through all gears. The brakes work well and stop the car in a straight line. The steering is tight and responsive. The windows roll up and down well and the gauges all appear to work. The tach reads about double actual engine speed. We did find the reason the gearbox was low on oil is that the front seal leaks and will need to be replaced. This one issue is the only thing that would prevent driving the car home. We looked the car over and the brakes are good along with all the suspension bushings. The coolant is in great shape. While this car does need a little work, it would be a very nice basis for a sympathetic restoration. If one were to paint the car and replace the front gearbox seal, it could be driven the rest of the time while the new owner takes care of the remaining little things. The car is currently registered and comes with a clear Georgia title. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end and the balance is due within 7 days of auction end. I can work with the winning bidder on pickup but two weeks from auction end would be the maximum time I can store it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email. I don’t know much about Fieros but will do my best to answer expeditiously. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping. Thanks for looking!
