Vehicle description
This 1986 F-150 would make an excellent finisher; or just a great flatbed for the farm or a first truck for the 16 year old. While I am no Michelangelo in regards to my body work skills (although all rust has been exterminated with prejudice), you do get my sweat and blood. And that equals:
A rebuilt and beefed up 300 L-6. .030 with 252 Comp Cam. Clifford Intake with 500 Edelbrock and 1996 fuel injection exhaust going to Magnaflow system.
Painless Performance wiring harness: bumper to bumper rewire. Lucas, the Prince of Darkness has been evicted!
All new hydraulics, including stainless steel brake lines. Brake calipers rebuilt. Drilled and slotted rotors on front. Drums turned on rear with fresh cylinders.
All new polyurethane bushings throughout the chassis and suspension system. Not a single piece of original rubber left (at least that my eyes can find). That includes new bushings, shocks and springs up front with a $250 alignment. With the new rag joint, it tracks just like you expect a truck or muscle car from the 60s-80s to do. New leaves on the rear.
New TCI C-6 transmission. Reduction starter up front.
Fresh rubber everywhere, belts and hoses. ESPECIALLY VACUUM! Each vacuum line controlling HVAC is now segregated and private.
Kicker speakers in each door, and in the center dash. Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX included. Center speaker is set up for CB!
Prewired for off-road lights of your choice (relay is already installed and hidden)
Reverse lights can be toggled while parked so as to be used as work lights.
Radiator has been flushed, and the original brass heater core has been boiled out. Would you like to be original, or extra crispy in the winter? While on the topic of HVAC, the factory AC works (needs a charge). While you might not be skiing in July, it is definitely comfortable in there (part of that is the fact that I have insulated the doors, roof, and floor). The blend door WAS broke, I replaced it with metal.
I purchased the truck in Oklahoma, so it probably lived most of its life up in the northern part of that state or Kansas. When I got a hold of it, the floor pans had seen better days. I am not that good of a welder. To check my work after replacing the floor pans, I had a 250 LB dude jump up and down on them to make sure the truck, not the floor buckled. I then proceeded to undercoat the vehicle. As a further precaution, I used ROOFING TAR on top of that on the driver"s side (passenger side has the exhaust).
This is all I can think of at the moment. I have poured the better part of 7 years and probably more money than sanity into this vehicle. But, the way I see it, as there are few automotive Vo-Tec schools left, I more than got my run out of it. When the ex left me living out in the middle of the country and that was my ride, and it was in a thousand pieces, I had to cash it all in. Plus, my health is not the best anymore. It was a great ride, and I wouldn"t trade it for anything. Perhaps with a little tuning (due to the weather), a proper paint and body job, and maybe a wooden flatbed, she will bring someone many years of joy.
