Vehicle description
One-owner 1986 Buick Regal V8 coupe with only 66,xxx miles - Always garaged. This car is all original, including metallic medium gray paint and light gray cloth interior. It has always been garaged and has been well maintained. The body is straight and rust-free. The carpet, seats dash and interior panels are immaculate for a car this age. Everything works, including A/C, cruise control and stereo. The Good The car has no rust. All body panels are straight. Chrome bumpers and other bright work is in good condition. The seats and carpet are in very good condition. The dash is in excellent shape with no warping or cracks. The 5.0L, 307 cubic inch, V8 starts and runs well. Transmission shifts smoothly. The A/C blows ice cold. Cruise control works. The stereo, with “electronic tuning,” still plays and all presets work. The glass has no cracks or chips. Hubcaps and tires are in good condition. This car was purchased new by my aunt when she was 66 years old. She is now 96 and moving to an assisted living facility. She drove the car for a few years before she retired and then in her retirement. It sounds cliché, but this car really was driven by an old lady to church, the beauty shop and the grocery store. The super low miles and overall condition of the car are consistent with its limited use. The Bad Not much to report here. The paint is a bit faded, but should come back with a good polishing and wax job. The right front “bumper filler,” the plastic panel between the bumper and the body, is cracked and mostly missing (see photos). The rear bumper filler is also deteriorated (see photos). This is very common with most GM cars of this era; those plastic panels appear to deteriorate over time. As a result, replacement bumper filler panels are readily available and a complete set can be purchased for around $300 on ebay or elsewhere. Otherwise, only a couple of very minor door dings and superficial scratches detract from the exterior appearance. The only cosmetic issues with the interior are that the headliner is sagging in places, there is a small seam separation on the passenger edge of the front seat back, and 3 of the trim pieces that cover the ends of the door pulls are missing. (See photos) A full set of these are available on ebay for less than $20. This car runs and drives very well. With a minor investment and a little effort, the effects of time could be eliminated and the car could be made to look great. If someone is looking for a starter car for a Grand National or GNX clone, this would be a solid foundation from which to start. Car being sold as-is. Serious bidders are welcome to inspect the car by appointment. Buyer solely responsible for shipping or pickup. Seller reserves the right to end auction early.
